    Eating with your fingers!

Am I the only one who's getting tired of seeing lots of delicious looking videos on line of people telling and showing us how too cook/prepare very expensive cuts of beef only to find them eating them with their fingers! ?? I was raised to eat with a knife and fork while keeping my elbows of the table! The steaks etc. look amazing but I find the real trick is keeping the protein hot while serving it with ALL the sides so that Alll the guests regardless of how many, get the same exact orgasmic experience the bloggers get when taking them off the fire and tearing them apart with their FINGERS!! That's all...... PS, I'm better now that that's off my chest!! And don't forget the napkins!!

I worked with a guy in college at a restaurant who ate other people's leftovers. We bussed our own tables and when I tell you every finger got dirty, EVERY FINGER!! Kid's shrimp complete with kiddee drool.....down the hatch.

When I was a young warthog I used to enjoy freaking out my friends by grabbing something tasty looking from the bus cart and popping it in my mouth. I wouldn't grab just anything, though, just something that looked good and relatively unmolested. It's just food that someone didn't finish.

Meh - so what. I really don't care how an online personality eats their food. I usually stop watching the video at that point anyway. Watching them eating doesn't change my decision about trying the recipe or not.

I have a friend who loads up with so much food in her mouth that when she starts talking, yes you read that right, about a fourth to a third of the food falls back onto her plate. Now that to me is just a little uncalled for. Eatin with the digits we were given, not so much.

I don’t really notice. But maybe it has been shown to increase ad revenue? Idk.

You should watch Glen and Friends. Good vids, solid techniques, fun explanations, honest assessments.

Maybe they had to pawn their knives and forks to afford the steak?

People shouldn't eat food with their fingers; they should eat them separately!

BTW, I use my fingers to eat finger food.
I think that is why it is called finger food.
I use "Myapalmer and the 5 Children" to hold my beer--does that count?

Foods generally accepted as finger foods:
                • Bread
                • Pizza
                • Sandwiches, unless covered with a sauce
                • French fries
                • Fried chicken
                • Barbeque ribs
                • Crispy bacon
                • Corn on the cob
                • Artichokes
                • Asparagus
                • Small fruits such as grapes or berries

Many types of seafood is also appropriate. But then again some good old baby backs full of sauce and a big handful of napkins is a lot of fun too!

At a restaurant yeah I'll fork and knife the things that require it... my left over steak I take to work and the plastic fork isn't cutting it? Hands have been washed and I'm diving in! Just carved up a bird and the slices are ready for serving? I'm picking at that carcass.

I like the idea of cultures that use bread type things to grab and eat food, but I don't want to share a plate with others grabbing things that way.

When I lived in England and Germany it was funny to watch a large portion of people eat a burger or pizza with fork and knife, though plenty still picked the fries up so it baffled me why not eat both with your hands but whatever.

Mosca I have a co-worker from Columbia who used a fork to eat potato chips out from the bag. Someone bought him a pair of training chopsticks.

When we in Naples, Italy...everyone ate pizza with a knife and fork...except for the Americans...

My wife and her family are Dutch-Indonesian, while they eat with utensils; my wife and I had the honor of eating Sate with rice, by hand. It was a messy experience for us, but the natives were adept at scooping the food with their hands and ‘funneling’ it into their mouths without dropping it. A very social experience and great fun was had by all. 😎

I often eat with just my pocket knife that I wiped on my shirt (when I think about it). I'm usually not home in these instances though.

Well you did turn some eyes at a White House State dinner a few years back going after that butter poached lobster and short ribs with your pocket knife.🙂

I'd rather eat my my fingers than someone else's fingers.

I know of no right way or wrong way to enjoy your food. I have eaten many a meals with my fingers, including some sliced steak, and almost always eat a bone in pork chop with my hands not a fork.

I usually cut the chop and eat it like a steak, then pick up the bone and gnaw it clean. Even in a restaurant. I really don’t care if anyone is watching; it’s my damn pork chop, I paid for it, and that’s the best part so I’m eating it!
