One thing I have trouble wrapping my mind around is how someone that will spend $8.00 for a single cup of coffee a day thinks $25 for a great steak at a grocery store a couple of times per month is too expensive.

I agree. I love good coffee but I make it at home for well under $1 a cup. I think it is absolutely stupid to pay $8 for a cup of coffee but I will pay top dollar for good ingredients such as beef, but to each their own.

Yeah, that is why I buy the Folgers silo at Costco. $8 coffee also blows my mind.

Nothing replaces a great steak! I have done my solemn best to pass this fact along to three children who all love a great steak!

I don't worry, we'll be eating the carcasses of vegans when the next ice age hits, which was predicted to start any day now.

Things are always changing and cycling. A large vineyard in CA just went under and I believe beer sales are down too nationally. Apparently the younger folks aren't into wine. Some of the issue might be cost of beef as many of the younger generation are struggling with employment and the cost of living. Not that others aren't having a hard time right now either. Inflation is crazy. I just replaced the battery in the Jeep, 6 years old. I had the receipt in the glove box $79 NAPA Gold. Got the exact battery this week,$ 189. Beef will always be popular, it just tastes too good.

I have two sons (11 and 13). The teenager eats everything and loves beef. I don’t see that changing anytime soon. On the other hand, the tweenager has been self-selected pescatarian for a year now and I don’t see that changing either. Mom and I are true omnivores so we’ll see what the future holds I guess

Several years ago, bought a little Tyson stock. My thinking was/is that if fake meat takes off, some big outfit will buy out a start-up. We will see. Don't recall purchase price, and don't track current price. Prolly just 100 shares.

Our 3 kids, and 4 grandkids, all eat everything. One DIL thought she was a vegetarian. Then we went to a nice Wenatchee, WA steak house. She was converted.

We have a good friend that said she never liked beef as an adult. She says it was because she was made to eat it as a kid, and she just did not like the taste . . . and she just remembered chewing and chewing on it. We bugged her several times to try some really good steak . . . everyone else in the group loves good beef, so it is often served when we are together. About a year ago, she finally agreed to try a small piece of really nice, tender, flavorful ribeye . . . and now she loves beef again.

SJUfeller great story. I swear, I never ate pizza as a kid until at least the 6th grade. Tomato sauce made me hurl (ask me why I hate ketchup on dogs and burgers). I was forced to eat jarred tomato sauce and couldn’t stand it. My palette has evolved since then. But I still can’t stand ketchup on dogs and burgers. I do use Rao’s jarred sauce in a pinch.

I liked the original slogan: "Beef, real food for real people"

Not sure my experience is good for much, but... the young people (ie. under 35) in my life do not seem to be so much veg oriented. Back in the late 80s, when I was still in school and picketing and all that, I went vegetarian. Don't think vegan was even a word back then. For social reasons. After about a year, I felt bad, and went back (also my med school program fed us in hospital for free, but we ate what they made). My nieces, nephew, greats, all eat meat and savor it. Some have little quirks, like no fish, but only one won't eat meat, and she has a serious eating disorder and barely eats anyway. My limited impression is that it is not the issue it was even a few years ago. Of course, is my limited impression.

I cooked a 15lb brisket and two chickens for my son (24) and some of his friends. They devoured the brisket, but I still have leftover chicken.

My 12 year old likes her steak med rare. She once told a waitress that asked her how she enjoyed her meal that it wasn’t as good as her dad makes. I’m doing my part…

Both my boys & their GFs are meat eaters…
My SO and her boys are all meat eaters…as are the kids of the one that has them.
My 33-YO ex-muse and her daughters are also consumers of beef…and other meat.
Other friends & family are just the same.
IOW, almost everyone I know, regardless of age, still eat meat. And most varieties at that.

My son, who just turned 39, is a beef lover. So not exactly young anymore. But he’s always loved beef. I think he has it at least three times a week. Two out of those three are steaks. It’s a little surprising because although his mom and I like beef, we only have it two or three times a month. Anyway, as a result of his loving it and eating it, so does his family of course. Therefore his two young girls are beef lovers too. I have no idea what that means in all this though. 🤷‍♂️🤣🙄

I'm not quite 40. Not young anymore, but I will be a meat eater until the day I die. Funny, I am actually down about 51 lbs as of this morning........pretty much eating only meat. (Working out a lot too, but diet is 85% of it) I have been "surviving" on chicken, pork, lamb and BEEF! (Mostly beef, ) Never felt better in my 30's, no joke. All of my friends, with the exception of one, are meat eaters. My one friend that went veggie, now eats fish. And I think he will continue to add more meats as time goes on.

I feel like it is trendy to not eat meat for younger folks. Then they get tired of their little game, and realize that there is no better, nutrient dense food than meat. That has always been the case. That is why our ancestors ate it too.

Y'all need to come to the left coast. I don't know about anti-beef people, but certainly a lot of vegans. In my little circle, my nephew's wife does not eat beef, my niece will eat some beef on a rare occasion, my daughter's best friend is a vegan, good friends of ours eat beef occasionally. Another friend's wife does not eat beef.

                        So there out there.
