    Is Wagyu good for you?

Interesting research article that says high oleic acid beef such as Wagyu and Hanwoo beef might be able to reduce risk factors for cardiovascular disease.

Oleic acid is an anti-inflammatory oil that can decrease inflammation/irritation of artery walls, thus decrease coronary artery disease which is considered an inflammatory process. It can also alter the makeup of blood lipids, like LDL, VLDL and HDL cholesterol. It can be found in olives and olive oil, some seeds and nuts, avocados and avocado oil, eggs and some cheeses. It can be from plant or animal sources. High oleic beef is one of them, but no magic bullet as opposed to the other sources, and those beefs are quite high in fat (so high in calories.) Is only MHO, but everything in moderation seems logical.

the problem with that approach is that my definition of moderation is much different than my Doctor's definition 🤷‍♂️😃

So mass quantities of Wagyu = no CABG surgery for me?
Sounds like that would have been an easier diet to follow.

(but then I wouldn't have the cool scar the ladies swoon over)

Anyone who has enough money to eat that much Wagyu probably has a complete gym in the pool house.

I'll have the 24oz ribeye, bloody as hell, the Mac and cheese, extra dairy and gluten, and a cask strength bourbon to wash it down please. Hold the broccoli, I'm watching my figure.

The fat, yup oleic acid, is great for ya, screw the calories. Mo fat, mo better! Lotsa meat & fat is also great fer arthuritis. Shoot it will even contribute to brain health & deep six depression.

Not that I needed another reason to eat higher quality beef, but I do have justification for the higher cost. 😂

I once split a 10 oz $100 Japanese A5 Wagyu strip steak with four other people. Never again. WAY too much fat for my tastebuds. Y'all can have my share.

I’ve eaten a 16oz strip from Hokkaido prefecture (aka snow beef). I’m not sure I could do it today, but it wasn’t hard back then, maybe 6-7 years ago. It was delicious! Back then I ate quite a few Wagyu steaks, both Japanese and American, and some Australian as well. All were great.

I got kids in college and it's expensive but my kids need me to be around for a long time and if Wagyu is the ticket...... I guess it's time for them to transfer 🤣🤣

I fully support this research and its conclusions!!

Kidding aside . . . the health benefits of Wagyu have been researched by a number of different universities and health institutes. Most of the reports are above my pay grade and make my head spin.

This linked article is a bit shorter explanation, as is the attached pdf. Not as credible of sources as university studies . . . but explain things in simpler terms.
