I'm grilling a Snake River Farms prime rib to serve 8 on Christmas. Unfortunately, the 8 became 13 two days ago, so I had to supplement with a supermarket rib roast, CAB choice, OK but clearly inferior to the SRF. Does anybody have any suggestions for sharing the SRF wealth, or should I just carve both and let the chips fall where they may? Bonus points for guaranteeing the grillmeister gets the SRF.

I would either carve and serve both on a single plate and let the guests choose their slices or have both on a carving board and ask the guests to choose where they’d like you to carve a slice off.
Either way, make your plate first and sit down to eat last.

I wouldn't mind betting that your guests would be hard pressed to tell the difference.
I'm sure both roasts will be cooked very well and guests are normally grateful of the effort put into a cook that they didn't do themselves. I have found that most people are oblivious of the faults I can see in my own cooking and down it with gusto.
Have some fun with it and slice it up at random, I will bet that the plates are licked clean regardless of the roast.
I know this because you are a member of AR and therefore take great care with your cooking.

If there are those who don’t want medium rare they should get the choice. I agree with Stuey1515 I don’t think anyone will complain. I’ve cooked a lot of CAB choice and have never had a problem. CAB is the high end of choice. I would consider not saying a thing about the difference. It’s all great beef.

Large Big Green Egg, Weber Performer Deluxe, Weber Smokey Joe Silver, Fireboard Drive, 3 DigiQs, lots of Thermapens, and too much other stuff to mention.
I agree with ItsAllGoneToTheDogs. Do the CAB to medium well, the SRF to medium rare, label the plates and enjoy your party!

I combined a number of the great suggestions I received above. I stretched the SRF to cover all 13 of us by filling a platter with half-slices. It was the larger roast, so everyone happily received their portion, which with the sides easily filled their plates. Those who wanted seconds helped themselves to the CAB. Both were a tasty medium rare, so everyone was fully satisfied. What I thought would be a problem in fact turned out great. Thanks again to all who helped!
