    fuel for brisket

I have smoked many packer briskets in the past and always used Kingsford briquettes with good results. However, after more than 50 years using Kingsford I have changed to B&B because it lasts longer and burns hotter in my opinion. I have a prime packer brisket coming from Creekstone Farms and am wondering which fuel I should use: B&B briquettes, hardwood lump charcoal, or hardwood logs. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Without knowing what cooker you use it’s hard to say.

This, 100%. I'm a fan of natural wood, most of the time, if at all possible.

If the female they send to get me to buy said pharmaceutical product is super attractive, then I'll probably go with it, just like the tool sets.

Screw it. I'm going to say B&B briquettes, since there is only charcoal listed as options.

Since you are using your WSM, you would be just fine with lump or briquettes. You can add some hard wood if you like. But go easy. Briquettes can have a strong flavor on their own.

You do not want to use just wood in your WSM, so skip that idea.

B&B also makes some really good briquettes as well.

Nothing beats a properly burning wood fire. If that’s an option for you, take it. I switched from charcoal to stick burning about 8 years ago and haven’t looked back!

I use Traeger pellets in my Traeger Timberline 850, so I guess it is not much help.

I'm a B&B briquettes guy for all long cooks in my barrel smokers

If I were making a Creekstone brisket, I wouldn’t change from what I know. Use what you’re confident with.

My best brisket ever was from Creekstone, better than SRF Gold.
