This apparently is indeed a thing in Argentina. Steven Raichlen did a version a few months ago on episode one of Planet Barbecue: Argentine Fire.
Tik Tok's Al Frugoni’s meat crust pizza, replaces the traditional flour crust with a butterflied, grilled flank steak.
(Sadly, the video for this has "aged out" on WTTW's website.)

I need to so make this. It looks so good. In some sense, it's like an "unrolled" stuffed flank steak with pizza toppings.

Hmmmmm..........watching the Raichlen vid, the way the Argentinian gent describe the location of the cut of beef they use that he says is hard to find in the US I'm guessing it's the Sierra steak. If you recall the chuck roll I divided a couple weeks or so back, that muscle comes from the outer portion of the chuck roll and visually resembles a flank steak. I think it's a bit more tender than a flank, so might be just the ticket for this presentation.
