The Publix in my area of Florida typically offers two brands of corned beef brisket this time of the year: Grobbles and David Murphy. They are the same price, so I am not sure what the difference is. If anyone has tried them both, do you have a preference? Thanks.

I bought two points this year. Never got around to curing my own, although I have in the past.
I really do not think there is any difference in the two brands. So just get whatever. You might want to check the free side of this site for the corned beef instructions, it also has the pickling spice instructions - which you probably want to add to the pot when cooking it. I find that the little packet of stuff that comes with the beef is there, but it isnt much.
Also corned beef is not really Irish Irish. Its more of an Irish-American thing, mainly because early immigrants were not exactly welcomed, and had to live in the poorer areas of town, which happened to be populated by Orthodox Jews. And guess what the kosher markets did not sell? Irish bacon for one. But they had a lot of cheap corned beef brisket! Which is close enough to Irish bacon, if you drink enough....
