My first brisket was excellent because it came from a $1 million steer! (Well, maybe)
As it turns out, the $1 million steer -- named Vanilla Ice -- sold at the Texas Livestock Show and Rodeo in March probably ended up in our local HEBs!
I mean.....if not me, then who?
(This actually is a fascinating article -- written by Emma Balter, an excellent Houston food writer -- about what happens to cows sold at auctions. It is well worth a read.)
(Also, if you are child of the '90s and by reading this you have "Ice, Ice Baby" or even worse "Go ninja go ninja go" in your head, I profusely apologize.)
