What do you guys think of these? Obviously there are so many more sauces I intend to try first (Blues Hog is up next) but I can't deny that if I stroll past one of these in my local store that I'm not going to drop $4 on one. I live in the suburbs in Northern Illinois, so real and true bbq stuff is hard to come by up here. I know the Kansas City one is endorsed by Joe Pearce, so I think it just shows how much traction bbq is gaining nationwide!
The ingredients look pretty good actually. I dont sauce meat but always have several in the fridge for stuff. I give these a run. Thanks for the share.

Mmmm, I'll have to think about the sampler pack. Our household favorites, though we rarely use them are Bib Bob Gibson's habanero and KC Masterpiece Original.
Scotch: Current favorite- The Arran (anything by them), Glenmorangie 12yr Lasanta, sherry cask finished. The Balvenie Double Wood, also like Oban 18yr, and The Glenlivet Nadurra (Oloroso sherry cask finished) among others. Neat please.

By total coincidence, I tried the Texas style Heinz on chicken thighs I did on the rotisserie last night. I am very impressed--excellent sauce, especially considering how large Heinz is and how inexpensive the bottle was--$1.97 at Wally World, $2.67 at Fry's (Kroger affiliate). Tomato-ey, rich, smoky, but not too sweet. Nice ingredients list. I'll buy this again for sure. I'm anxious to try the Carolina and Memphis styles now.
They were 2/2.00$ on a special as I was cruising the meat section so I bought them all but the classic... KC and Memphis are very similar so if you don't want to waste money, pick one. My advice would be the Memphis. Texas is not as spicy as advertised, lol. I expected a little more because of the name BOLD AND SPICY and would be the "spicy" version of what they are going for. Carolina is just like the vinegar sauce recipe on here, you can make it better by following MHs instructions and doing your own riff. Overall: way better than expected and far superior to anything that I thought a company like Heinz could produce. And I live in Pittsburgh lol.

Just got back from Walmart where I picked up a bottle of the Texas sauce. I can taste a little spice, a little sweet and a little vinegar. Not sure yet if I'll buy more...just wanted to give it a try as we like a bit of heat (moderate) in our sauce, though we don't typically sauce ribs or pulled pork. Our favorite is Big Bob Gibson habanero but we're out of that so I guess we have to either drive the 2 hours to his place or order a gallon online.
Thanks for the review!! I wanted to try Texas as well as a few others, so I think I will grab the Kansas one first if I spy it in a store now. post if you try more!
I have to say, I have not purchased a BBQ sauce since I joined Amazing Ribs. I keep some Texas BBQ sauce and KC Classic sauce in the fridge at all times, both made in my kitchen. If I get a hankerin' for another flavor, I'll just look it up and make it....
Resurrecting this ancient thread lookin' for some help. I really liked the Heinz Memphis Sweet and Saucy especially as an ingredient in my BBQ bean recipe, but sadly Heinz discontinued it some time ago, and now I'm down to my last half bottle. Have been attempting to identify a replacement through side-by-side tasting versus other commercial options based on similar ingredients, and even "reverse engineering" it by blending some together. Think I'm closing in on it but not quite there yet. In my opinion this was a really good sauce, the label informs that Heinz "teamed up with Dan Brown of Memphis' famed Leonard's Pit BBQ to craft this sweet and spicy sauce...etc.". Looked like it contained quality ingredients, dark brown and cane sugars, no HFCS, and one particularly interesting one, blackstrap molasses. Have been examining labels of grocery store offerings of late but have as yet uncovered only a single other sauce specifically listing that particular grade of molasses as an ingredient, that being Kroger's Private Selection Blackstrap Molasses BBQ Sauce. I've since tried it but it's not the same, has a very different flavor profile. So, I'm wondering if anyone else here on AR might also have been a fan of this particular sauce, if so what they've since replaced it with, and also whether anyone is aware of other sauces that contain, in particular, blackstrap molasses? Gracias, and Cheers!
