Yeah I know! Steve B …..actually these were pretty decent sized wings, and I had a lot of those scalloped potatoes left over from the other night.

STEbbq challenged me to compare Meathead’s KC BBQ Sauce with Max Good ’s Black Swan. Oh hell yeah, I’ll do it! I just ordered me some Beso del Fuego, it’ll be here Wednesday. This Sunday I’ll cook something and do a side by side comparison. I’m thinking maybe some Vortex ribs or maybe hang a chicken in the Bronco, not sure yet. Stay tuned folks! I’m either gonna get banned for life or get a free lifetime membership to The Pit!

See that PJ? Max liked my post so your banning odds just jumped (I kid).
I am not sure if Max Good considers his original sauce closer to KC style so maybe a better apples to apples versus MH’s KC sauce. But hey…third round of competition here. How many wings can PJ eat?!?

Grills:
Weber 22" Kettle Premium w/Slow N' Sear 2.0
Pit Barrel Cooker
Grilla Grills Chimp
W.C. Bradley & Co. Char Kettle CK-115 ~1980s Vintage Grill (inactive)
I'm trying to settle down to just three sauces for "everyday" use. For Texas-style, I love Stubbs. I really enjoy that peppery bite, plus it is readily available and the least expensive of the others. For spicy, hands down, without question, it is Beso del Fuego.
I'm still trying to find a good KC-style sauce. I need to try Meathead's.

I seem to collect bottles of bbq sauce. I just looked and I currently have 14 in the pantry and three open in the fridge. Do I have a problem? 😵💫🤣🙄

Yes. I realized I had a problem when I had to start tossing out expired bottles of BBQ sauce that had never been opened. I quite making large purchases of sauce online at that point, and either mix up a recipe of what I find here, or buy a SMALL bottle at the store of something I like. I can't keep 3 gallon jugs of Blues Hog sauce open in the extra fridge in the garage going forward....

Developed the same issue with rubs, and have whittled it down to a small basket on a shelf in the pantry, as the rubs would go bad and clump up before I could use them... I am mostly back to just mixing up the ones I like from here. Too many of the commercial rubs - especially the Hardcore Carnivore ones - were like eating pure salt.

Large Big Green Egg, Weber Performer Deluxe, Weber Smokey Joe Silver, Fireboard Drive, 3 DigiQs, lots of Thermapens, and too much other stuff to mention.
My favorite bbq sauce tends to be the one in front of me.
I don’t like ranking them. There are ones I like, and others that I’m indifferent to or just don’t like. When I get too many open at once, I mix them all together… and that’s usually pretty good, too.
Here are sauces I like. I haven’t had Stubb’s in years, so I can’t rank it.
Dinosaur Sensuous Slathering
Meathead’s KC
Black Swan Original, Beso, and Cognac
Meat Mitch Whomp! and Naked Whomp!
I don’t care for Arthur Bryant’s Original. I’ve read that the Sweet Heat is much better.
I’ve been making the AR KC sauce recipe for years now. I prefer it to bottled sauces for a lot of reasons. Meathead’s commercial sauce is pretty close, with the addition of the liquid smoke. I don’t mind liquid smoke.

Cooking gadgets
Weber Summit Charcoal Grill Center
Weber Summit Platinum D6
Blue Rhino Razor
Dyna-Glo XL Premium Dual Chamber
Camp Chef Somerset IV along with their Artisan Pizza Oven 90
Anova WiFi
Thermometers
Thermapen Mk4 - ThermaQ High Temp Kit - ThermaQ Meathead Kit - ThermaQ WiFi - ThermoWorks IR-GUN-S - ThermoWorks Signals & Billows - ThermoPop -ThermoWorks ProNeedle - ThermoWorks TimeStick Trio x2 - and a Christopher Kimball timer - NO, I do not work for ThermoWorks...I just like their products.
Other useful bits...
KitchenAid 7-qt Pro Line stand mixer
A Black & Decker food processor that I can't seem to murder
A couple of immersion blenders, one a "consumer" model & the other a "high end" Italian thing. Yes, the Italian one is a bit better, but only marginally
Instant Pot Duo Evo Plus 8-qt + accessories like egg-bite & egg holders
All-Clad pots & pans, along with some cast iron...everything from 7" Skookie pans to 8.5qt Dutch ovens
Weber GBS griddle, pizza stone, and wok
Knives range from Mercer to F. Dick to "You spent how much for one knife? One knife?!" LOL
Well now my ears have perked up. LOL
Nine times out of ten, I’ll make my own sauce. When time is not on my side, or I’m racing off to someone’s house, my go-to is Stubb’s. Seems better than most of the grocery store sauces… But now I’m thinking I might need to try the others. Max’s spicy one might be just the ticket for most of my friends & I…with MH’s being a good all purpose sauce. Hmmm…
