Great suggestions guys. DaveD Maybe quarterly is a better idea! Two things I was concerned with was "donor fatigue" and keeping any potential work away from management. I don’t really need anything from management, unless we could get a few trinkets if they’d like to throw in……a signed copy of Meathead’s book, Max’s BBQ sauce maybe? But first I’d like to keep them from having to do anything, they’ve got enough on their plate I’m sure. And I do not want this to compete with the regular drawing, like you said, just add to the fun of being a member here.
If we do this quarterly I’d like to keep the prize at a decent amount of dollar value. My thoughts are around $400-$500. It would be easy to find things for that amount of value, especially if we’re giving away a cooker, which was my plan for most of the prizes. I’ll do all the leg work for the drawing, unless someone wants to throw a prize suggestion my way. IF this flies I was thinking of giving away an SNS Deluxe Kettle one month, maybe another Bronco, regular size. There’s a ton of choices for this. Finding prizes is the least of my worries.
I really don’t need any data or such for the drawing. I’d do it like the Bronco giveaway. First establish the rules for the giveaway and post them. If we do limit it to 100 or more posts to be eligible, that is easy enough to find out, it shows their total posts on their avatar. If a person sees the rules, most members would abide by them I think. If I see someone who wants in with 4 posts in 3 years they’re not qualified to enter.
Also, to be eligible they’ll have to post that they want in on the contest. They’re responsible for letting us know. I’ll set up an official entry post like I did for the Bronco. I’ll also give plenty of notice when they need to let us know. After giving this a little more thought, maybe we could limit it to the first 50 people to post that they want in. Our regular posters here would easily be among the first to know. After that, those 50 people would choose a number between 1-200. Closest number to the winning number wins. These are all just thoughts for now, but if we do it just like the Bronco drawing, we won’t have any need for data or work from management.
EDIT: Probably not a good idea on the minimum number of posts set at 100 to be eligible. That would be dropped.

I thought an occasional prize giveaway on its own could be more long lasting.
