    Pita Bread

It’s kinda a flat bread…. And certainly not baked, so it landed here.

    Greek Style Pita Bread

Prep Time: 15 min | Cook Time: 20 min | Difficulty: Easy | Servings: 8

    Ingredients

    250 g warm water (about 1 cup)
    7 g dry active yeast
    14 g sugar (1 tbsp)
150 g bread flour (for yeast activation)

250 g Greek yogurt, room temperature
50 g olive oil (for dough)
    3.5 g Kosher Salt (1 tsp)

500 g bread flour (for dough)

    Olive oil (for greasing bowl)

    Directions:
    Instructions
    1. In a large bowl, stir together the lukewarm water, yeast, sugar, and 150 g of flour. Let sit for 10–15 minutes until foamy.
    2. Add Greek yoghurt, 50 g olive oil, and salt to the mixture and stir to combine.
    3. Gradually mix in the remaining 500 g of flour until a dough forms.
    4. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 10 minutes until soft, smooth, and elastic, adding flour if needed.
    5. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap or a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1.5 to 2 hours until doubled in size.
    6. Deflate the dough and divide it into 8 equal pieces. Roll each into a ball, cover, and let rest for 10 minutes.
    7. Roll each ball into a 8 inch round. Cover with a towel as you go.
    8. Heat a pan over medium heat with a little olive oil. Cook each pita for 1 minute per side, flipping as needed until golden, soft, and puffed.
    9. Keep warm under a towel or foil as you finish the rest.

Pita is the original pocket bread. Middle Easterners have been makin it and eatin it fer thousands of years.
Yer recipe is interesting with the yogurt.

Adam Witt's channel is very fun. He is very Chicago-oriented, which gives a unique spin to his dishes. I also really like that he often gives a wonderful history of the foods he is making. Check out his Chicago pizza and Chicago dog videos to be sure.
