Made my Aunt Lorna’s Lasagna today. Thought I’d share it with the pit.
My aunt cooks the best comfort food. It’s not fancy, it’s not different it’s just delicious.
1 lb. package Mueller’s lasagna noodles (20 noodles)
1 lb. ground beef
1 lb. ground Italian sausage
1 head garlic
1 medium yellow onion
Dried parsley
24 oz. large curd cottage cheese
1 lb. mozzarella cheese
Shaker cheese (Kraft Parmesan cheese)
4 lb. jug of Ragú traditional spaghetti sauce
Par cook the lasagna noodles in salted water.
Brown up the ground beef, sausage, onion and garlic in a pan. Add in parsley. Mix in enough Ragú to make the the meat wet and salt and pepper to taste.
Drain the cottage cheese in a fine mesh strainer to remove a good amount of the liquid.
Shred the mozzarella.
Time to assemble:
Coat the bottom of a 13x9 pan with Ragú

Add the first 4 noodles to the pan.

Put in 1/4 of the meat mixture.

Followed by 1/4 of the cottage cheese

Next put in 2 oz. of the shredded mozzarella cheese.

Sprinkle on some shaker cheese.

Dot in some Ragú next.

Repeat these steps three more times. After you add the layer of noodles use your hands and press down the layer to make level.
Finish with your last four noodles.

Add remaining sauce (about two cups) to top.
I forgot to take this picture.
Cover and bake at 375° for about 1.25 hours.

Make sure the lasagna pan is sitting on a cookie sheet or you’ll be cleaning your oven after the bake.
