    Aunt Lorna’s Lasagna

Made my Aunt Lorna’s Lasagna today. Thought I’d share it with the pit.

My aunt cooks the best comfort food. It’s not fancy, it’s not different it’s just delicious.

1 lb. package Mueller’s lasagna noodles (20 noodles)
    1 lb. ground beef
    1 lb. ground Italian sausage
    1 head garlic
    1 medium yellow onion
    Dried parsley
24 oz. large curd cottage cheese
    1 lb. mozzarella cheese
    Shaker cheese (Kraft Parmesan cheese)
4 lb. jug of Ragú traditional spaghetti sauce

Par cook the lasagna noodles in salted water.

Brown up the ground beef, sausage, onion and garlic in a pan. Add in parsley. Mix in enough Ragú to make the the meat wet and salt and pepper to taste.

Drain the cottage cheese in a fine mesh strainer to remove a good amount of the liquid.

    Shred the mozzarella.

    Time to assemble:

Coat the bottom of a 13x9 pan with Ragú

Make sure the lasagna pan is sitting on a cookie sheet or you’ll be cleaning your oven after the bake.

Looks like a great and simple recipe, just like what I grew up with.

I can smell that. A piece of garlic bread, a simple green salad and a glass of red wine and I'm in heaven.

I made garlic bread and a simple green salad with cucumber, celery, garden fresh cherry tomatoes and garbanzo beans with a vinaigrette I whipped up with oil, vinegar and fresh herbs from my garden. We are not fans of wine so we just had lemoned water to drink with dinner.

This is very close to the lasagna that Mary Joan made the first time she cooked for me. Won my heart, she did.
