3 cups self rising flour 3 tbs sugar 1 tsp salt 1/2 cup onion flakes 1/4 cup dried Italian seasoning 1 12 0z can/bottle of beer
Adjust onion flakes and seasoning to taste Mix all ingredients (dry stuff first then add beer) You will end up with a goopy mess... get your hands real wet before you handle it, it helps. Oil the Dutch Oven real good.
Cook for 35-40 minutes with 6 charcoal briquettes on the bottom and 18-20 briquettes on the top.
If you want cover the bottom of the dutch with parchment paper first so you can get the bread out easier
Rotate the dutch and lid separately and opposite directions about every 10 minutes
Melt some butter on top when finished - let sit for 20 to 30 min before cutting (hard to do)
If you want to you use you digital thermometer to check when it is done... shoot for 195 to 205 in the middle of the loaf.

Reason: spacing grrrrrrrr
sorry I did not get a pic... I sent this to work with my wife, so I never cut into. This is not a yeast bread, so you can imagine what the crumb looks like... a big biscuit. LOL
I will make a yeast version sometime and show more.
Scotch: Current favorite- The Arran (anything by them), Glenmorangie 12yr Lasanta, sherry cask finished. The Balvenie Double Wood, also like Oban 18yr, and The Glenlivet Nadurra (Oloroso sherry cask finished) among others. Neat please.

Ive seen stacks on You Tube that are like pyramids of Dutch ovens. Really cool. This is also a phenomenal way to make corn bread for a afternoon of BBQ. Great post Smark. I love cast iron cooking.
