    Bourbon Pecan Apple Crisp

Made some Bourbon Pecan Apple Crisp this evening. It was delicious.

I made 2 8x8 pans. One pan was gifted to our neighbor.

    Topping
1 1/2 sticks of butter cubed and softened
    1/2 cup old fashioned oats
    1/2 cup flour
    1/2 cup light brown sugar
    1/2 cup dark brown sugar
2/3 cup chopped roasted unsalted pecans
    2 teaspoons freshly grated cinnamon

    Apple Mixture
7 medium large honey crisp apples

    4 oz. smoked maple bourbon
    4 oz. honey
    1 oz. lemon juice
    2 teaspoons vanilla
    1 teaspoon freshly grated cinnamon
    1/4 cup light brown sugar
    1/4 cup sugar

I preheated my oven to 350°

I put all Topping ingredients into a large bowl and with my hands I blended them all together until they were almost completely combined.

I pealed the 7 apples. As soon as I pealed them I dunked them into a bowl of water that I squeezed 1/2 a lemon into. This prevented them from browning as I pealed all remaining apples. I then quartered the apples and remove the core and sliced them into 1/4” slices then cut the slices in half.

I took the remaining Apple mixture ingredients and put them into my Tupperware Quick Shake and shook them up until it was fully blended. I actually did this after I pealed the apples and before I sliced them up.

As I was slicing the apples up and putting them into a large bowl I was adding in some of the liquid mixture after each apple was sliced.

I put half of the apples into each pan then added half of the liquid that was left in the bowl into each pan.

Next I split the Topping mixture in two and dotted it onto each pan.

Baked the pans at 350° for an hour.

I forgot to get a picture before we dug into our pan. Oops

The Bourbon flavor really came through in the apples and the pecans in the topping was next level.

Here is the Bourbon I used.

I'd eat it. Might use a tarter firmer apple, but honey crisps are the ultimate utility apple. imho.

I prefer Jonathans when I kind find them. Romes were also a favorite of mine, but they seem to be extinct.
