    Cottage Cheese

Are you a fan of cottage cheese? I am and I eat it every day. There are a couple of combinations that I've used over the years that are fairly common, like with black pepper or canned fruit such as peaches or pears - yummy! But last year, I tried something new on a whim. I mixed some cottage cheese with my daughters home made salsa and one packet of Splenda.

    O. M. G. Unbelievably delicious! And so simple I can almost make it with my eyes closed. It is now my go to mid-morning snack almost 7 days a week, I measure out the serving size by weight on my kitchen scale. One serving of small curd, low fat cottage cheese (113 g), one serving of salsa (30 g), & one packet of Splenda. Mix well & enjoy.

If you've already discovered this snack delight or have a slightly different approach, tell me about it. If this is new and you try it, what did you think about it?

I prefer savory or plain cottage cheese, but I try to eat some at least once a week to try and help my gut biome. Generally I just use a little salt and a lot of pepper. Sometimes I use saison. Sometimes some grilled diced jalapeno.

Your concoction sounds interesting, and I can see how it would work. I just can't bring myself to try it or any variation with fruit or sweet However, I might try mixing in a little of my favorite salsa as that does sound like something I might like.

I could eat an entire quart in one sitting. I like blueberries in mine. Other than that, just plain with cracked pepper. Grew up eating it with canned peaches or pears. I feel like it is a southern thing, but maybe not.

Big fan of plain, with black pepper, and also mixed with canned fruits. My now passed hunting friend introduced me to it mixed with apple sauce, and that because a hunting trip tradition. With black pepper is my favorite combo.

My favorite way to eat it is with raw broccoli and Catalina dressing. Catalina dressing and cottage cheese were made for each other.

So is cottage cheese and salsa, but more so - IMHO.

I like creamy cottage cheese, with black pepper and salt. And in season, as it is now, I like homegrown tomato with my cottage cheese.

I also like to mix it with some potato salads .

Think I'll go to Braums and get me some cottage cheese, right now.

            I go through about 2 to 2 1/2, 24 oz tubs a week.

Y'all trust me when I say that cottage cheese with pepper is a great place to start. I also think using salsa instead is a step up in the savory department. The Splenda doesn't overpower the dish with sweetness as a whole. What I think it does is it takes the slight acidic bite away from the salsa. You may disagree as we all have our own ideas about what tastes good and what does not.

For most of my life, no….couldn’t do it. But somehow that changed this past year. Trying to ensure I eat higher amount of protein, it is something that I have added to my lunch/salad. So I’m not eating it plain and I don’t think I could do that, but with a drop of Olive Garden salad dressing, it’s pretty good. It’s also good with the buffalo wing style protein chips I eat as well!

I’d done the peaches and pears thing for quite a while but I needed a break.

I love it with good tomatoes and a ton of pepper. Also like it a lot with chives. I even sprinkle various rubs on it from time to time. I’ve never done the peaches or pear thing, but might give the salsa thing a try.

Similar to glitchy, I do the no fat cottage cheese with diced tomato, fresh ground pepper and chopped onion preferably red. Also will do most any canned fruit but the tomato and onion thing is the best for me. Wonderful high protein and good biome as itsallgone..said. However as any cheese it does slow down your "working gears" somewhat for a lot of people.

I ate a lot of cottage cheese growing up, but it's not something my wife likes, so I don't think I've eaten it on its own in 36 years. I've seen her use it in recipes, but that's about it.

I may have to try it again soon.

The past few containers i bought tasted different for a lack of better description. They changed something, my wife and I both just stopped buying it.

I will start the “I Can’t Stand the Sight, Texture or Taste of It” section. 😬😁 Also hate the thought of ricotta.
But give me some good pepper jack or something hotter and I’ll be all over that stuff.
