I'm going to make myself sick, aren't I? (Thai food overload!)

I'm at a conference and I noticed that there is a little Thai restaurant right across the street from the hotel. I've only been in this city for seven hours and I've already eaten there twice.

Here was lunch: Spicy Thai Basil Chicken

Incredibly good. They diced their chicken a little finer than I would prefer, but I didn't mind at all. The sauce was amazing and oh wow Thai basil is so flavorful. Absolutely delicious.

Here was dinner: Spicy Crab Fried Rice (in the cutest dish ever!!).

This was perhaps one of the best fried rice dishes I have ever had. First, of course, crab. But the sauce they used was a mixture of oyster sauce and fish sauce. Absolutely perfect ratio; the absolutely nailed it. Complemented the crab perfectly.

I wonder what tomorrow will bring? (Aiming for something a little less heavy.)

I vote for drunken noodles with those nice wide noodles and lots of spice and Thai coffee.

Perhaps you would like some Koh Samui with that Tom Collin’s mix?

I love Thai basil chicken. There was restaurant called Nipa Hot (Thai and Philippine cuisine) just down from the Dixie Chicken in College Station that I went to a lot, the only dish I ordered was the Thai basil chicken - it was so good I never explored the menu further (in hindsight that was a big mistake). It was listed on the menu as just "Basil" - so good! They had a scale of 1 to 5 for you to choose the heat level but you also had to know which cook was in the kitchen: One guy's 2 was the other's 4. Alas, Nipa Hot is no longer there.

This recipe is on my to-do list, hopefully soon.

Pad kra pao gai is hands down my favorite thing on the menu at our local Thai restaurant. And that lunch looks fabulous!

I vote green curry with chicken for lunch. If a Thai restaurant is any good, its curries need to be good. At least that’s my test.

Wow, very rare to find the crab fried rice in a restaurant these days. That's authentic Thai street food.

I'll add another vote for Drunken Noodles, although you probably can't go wrong whatever you pick.

Seriously, I could eat Thai Basil Chicken about every other day, and that looks great. Rock on 👍!

Less heavy maybe try their Tom Gha or Papaya Salad, or both!

No. The more Thai food, the better!

I am a huge fan of Thai food. I love the heat and the wonderful blend of flavors that Thai food brings to the party. Sweet, Salty, Sour, Spicy and most of all......creamy. Coconut Curry Pad Thai is one of my favorite dishes on earth.

I love it HOT. Clears the head and gives you a natural sweat.

Mosca I love the way you phrased that experience because it describes my approach as well.

Mosca You're absolutely right. It is a very flavorful kind of heat. Not like the full-on-capsaicin in southwestern cooking.

                      Their heat levels are seductive:

                      None
                      Mild
                      Medium
                      Hot
                      Thai Hot
                      Double Thai Hot

I did hot for the lunch, and it was fine. I did Thai Hot for the crab fried rice and it was perfect, although I had to slow down a bit towards the end.

I may try Double Hot, but it'll need to be a dish that it handle that.....curry or more fried rice.

So, with no updates today on delicious Thai food, I am guessing ol’ Michael cheated on us with some Papa John’s pizza.
