That's what I'm looking for... The best pellet smoker around $1000 that isn't a Traeger or a GMG. I've had both of those in the past and not been super happy with either. Not happy with Traeger quality. Not happy with GMG technology. I'm due for something new. Would love to hear first-hand reports on other brands.

Hi, my name is Darrell. I'm an OTR truck driver for over 25 years. During my off time I love doing backyard cooks. I have a 48" Lang Deluxe smoker, Rec-Tec pellet smoker,1 Weber Genesis 330, 1 Weber Performer (blue), 2 Weber kettles (1 black and 1 Copper), 1 26" Weber kettle, a WSM, 8 Maverick Redi Chek thermometers, a PartyQ, 2 SnS, Grill Grates, Cast Iron grates, 1 ThermoPop (orange) and 2 ThermoPens (pink and orange) and planning on adding more cooking accessories. Now I have an Anova sous vide, the Dragon blower and 2 Chef alarms from Thermoworks.

If I was buying today I would go with a Camp Chef Woodwind with included propane sear box. $899 plus free shipping.

LOVE my RecTec 680! Very well built, 40 lb. pellet hopper, SIX year warranty, very consistent temperatures, and excellent customer service. My Rec Tec came with a Customer Contact Card that listed the number for their tech support guys, a number for their emergency after hours tech support, and the personal phone numbers and emails for the General Manager and the 2 co-founders of the company in case the first 2 numbers were not able to resolve any issues. I did a bit of research on pellet grills before deciding on the Rec Tec but when my wife asked me why I chose the Rec Tec, I told her it was because it had bull horns on the front!

My Rec Tec mini has been beyond expectations. I have used it at least three times a week since April and not one issue. The entire unit is very sturdy and well built. I have never been disappointed in the performance. No noticeable swings in temperature, which very nice for smoking. I would purchase another one without hesitation.

Add Firecraft Q450 & Yoder YS480 (a little more) to kmhfive list. Grilla grills are made just down the road from where I live. Good products. Not familiar with Blaz'n. Firecraft is getting good reviews. I'm in the minority but RecTec appears to be overpriced for what it is. If you can add $200 to your budget the Yoder would be a most excellent choice and great value.
