The Green Mountain Grills Daniel Boone was my gateway drug to pellet smokers. I am smitten. After using the DB all summer at my seasonal I'm now home until Spring, but alas, no pellet popper. Time to remedy that.
After more hours of research than I care to admit, I settled on the Memphis Advantage. Aside from any and all reasons that seem obvious, one important one was to find a "local" dealer who stocked the grills. 89 miles away may not be exactly local, but in high end grills that is close
. Cut a deal with the local guy (yes, you can cut a deal) who I never met, put down a deposit and have been patiently waiting for them to head my direction to deliver it. Today was that day.
One of the two owners and his son brought it over ... on time as agreed! Hopper full of pellets. They showed me how it operated, answered questions about cleaning it, threw in some extra grates and a couple of bags of pellets to make up for my long wait and seemed genuinely interested in making me happy. This. This is why I wanted a local dealer. Maybe I'm wrong, but I have every indication that if I'm having an issue they have my back. Extraordinary value in my opinion.
So now I'm back at work waiting not so patiently to go home and throw something on it. Hard to wait. Looking forward to cooking with pellets year round. The adventure continues ... with an Advantage.
