I called customer service this morning, I requested a call-back because of the long queue, and they called back in 36 minutes. The customer service rep gave me the FedEx number and tracking number.
My OG is on a FedEx freight truck and will be arriving this Wed. morning.
Woo hoo! Can't wait to see it and experience this adventure with you! The OG is one of my short list of cookers I would buy if I had space/cash for it.
jfmorris Thanks. I am shopping for pellets right now.
My advice is not to overthink the pellets. Watching YouTube videos on pellets will drive you crazy.
My understanding is that most pellets are mostly oak and with some other "flavoring" woods thrown in. I don't think the differentiators are as marked as the manufacturers and marketers would have us believe. And, of course, the hotter your temperature, the more efficient these things burn, and the less smoke there is in any case.
(I am considering getting a premium brand and using that for when I do 225 F and lower cooking.)
Try a brand or two and then stick with it. I go with a blend. I've had fantastic luck over the past two years with B&B's Championship Blend pellets. For $20, I can get a 40 lb bag at my local Academy.
I don't have a many stores that carry pellets around here. There is a Tractor Supply near me that has some Bear Mountain on sale for $9.99/20 lb. bag: Hickory, Apple and Gourmet blend (whatever that is.) Most people have good things to say about that brand. I can order pellets and have them delivered and hope the bags aren't beat into dust.
I doubt I will be astute enough to notice subtleties between pellets. A good pellet for a reasonable price that does what it should would be ok with me. I am good with a light smoke profile.
When I first got my Yoder, I experimented with various types of pellets until I realized I can barely tell the difference. Nowadays, I am using 100% cherry wood pellets because others say they taste better than the 100% oak do. They are made by Lumberjack and cost me an outrageous $12.95 for a 20 pound bag at the local barbecue equipment dealer.
I suggest you just try different types of pellets until you find one that you or those who eat your cooking like best.
Thanks. That is what I'll probably end up doing. I doubt my husband will notice any difference.
Honestly, the price of pellets kind of scared me at first, but I see people are having good results with the less expensive ones.
I just checked for local dealers for Lumberjack. Looks like the closest dealer is in Ontario and they are advertising $16.99 for a 20 lb bag.

Buy special/competition blends if you don’t buy a brand that advertises 100% of single species and don’t let 100% hardwood trick you. The blends often have less oak or alder than single species pellets in the brands that use them as base wood.
For example, Traeger’s signature blend is probably going to have more smoke flavor than Traeger Hickory.
Carolyn this will be the easiest cooker to learn. Plug it in, load the hopper, set the temp, walk away. That's it. I used my Bronco for some ribs the other day and I got annoyed getting it up to temp. And it is easy. Because for the last year, while i was living on the RV, i only used the Chimp lol
I think that is why I went for the pellet cooker. I know my limits, so I figured this would be the best way to learn, and really, I only care about the outcome.
That’s fun. I remember when I ordered mine they told me it would be a few weeks. I bought it on a Monday and it was in my garage by Thursday. They used a freight company.
I’ve been using the Kirkland pellets - 40lb bag for the past year. $13 and works great. Other than buying different brands online, which can get expensive with shipping I don’t have a lot of options that close to me. Our Kroger only carries Kingsford pellets and our Ace Hardware usually has either Weber or Traeger only for $20 for a 20 lb bag.
Yeah, that is me too. Limited local options, but at least Tractor Supply has the Bear Mountain that a lot of people like. I don't have a Costco membership, but that might change.
I ordered the OG on Dec 26th. With the holidays, I didn't expect a quick order fulfillment, but it would have been nice if they sent me an e-mail when the cooker shipped. It will be here tomorrow, so, yeah for me.
I never got an email either. Instead I received a phone call the next day from the freight company asking what day they could drop it off. It shipped from Holland, Michigan and they called me the next day 😆. I was leaving for Florida for a week long vacation that following Saturday too. Bear Mountain are great. I used to buy those when they had their buy one get one free promo.
radiodome21 I received an e-mail from FedEx that I thought was phishing because I get that all of the time, so I deleted it. When I got the confirmation e-mail from customer service, it had the same e-mail address. She said they don't e-mail. I am thinking they did.
I picked up 2 bags of Bear Mountain today, I am ready to start seasoning the OG.

My OG has been delayed. Should be getting it tomorrow. Waaah Wahhhhh (trombone).
Excellent! When you unpack it, check to see that the two main wheels are tight (one of mine was a bit loose). They're easy to tighten to avoid a wobble.
Also, take some pics of it BEFORE and during unpacking. If the unthinkable happens and you find yourself having to return it for replacement, it'll be a LOT easier to repack if you've got those pics for reference. Besides, you can post them here!
When I was picking up all of the packaging off of the floor, these bits went flying when I picked up the plastic sheet that was covering the grill.
I watched a vid. They go on the pellet dump door. 🙄 Good thing they went flying, or I might have thrown them out.

I have no clue what I am doing, so I imagine whatever I put in there will be ridiculously easy.
The first thing I put on the little gas grill I bought years ago was 'heat and eat' sausage, just so I could see how the thing acted, plus it was better than putting bread that I wouldn't eat.
Wish me luck!
