Myself, Rena, SheilaAnn and Purc took the short trip to the Fort Worth Stockyards to check out the John Wayne museum. It was pretty cool with lots of memories of his work and life.
John Wayne, the California Cowboy. He grew up in Glendale, CA where I currently live (La Crescenta is part of Glendale). And went to USC on a football scholarship. RIP Duke.

The first railroad across Indian Territory connected the Ft Worth Stockyards with Kansas City. It was the Katy railway and construction started in 1870.
It took a couple of decades but it eventually replaced the cattle drives on trails like the Chisolm , that connected Texas cattle with railheads in Kansas City.
barelfly it happens at 11:00- something and 4:00. We were there right between. There were some steer we could have gotten on for a photo op, but we passed. There is a petting zoo and you can do a ride. There was also a carriage.
Im still trying to find a way for us to at least join you for a meal. Panhead Johncan you text me an itinerary so I can see if maybe we can make it over there to visit some?
Mariano’s was a definite winner tonight according to my sources in the know! 🤓 The atmosphere and decor was first rate for a Tex-Mex restaurant, well done with a little kitsch. The food was excellent, everything I had on my plate I enjoyed, from the poblano pepper stuffed with beef to the enchiladas, REAL refried beans and rice.
It didn’t hurt that we had a beautiful sunset…_
It's pretty rare that you don't have a single nit to pick, but that was dinner tonight. I had Mariano's Favorite which was two cheese enchiladas covered with carne asada and pico. I wasn't sure if I would put much of a dent in it after all the chips and roasted pepper salsa I ate, but it turns out my pants have more stretch than I thought and I finished the whole thing.
barelfly I found you some company for the animals.

After dinner tonight we arranged a meeting for solving world problems. First order of business was determining what to do with the Strait of Hormuz. After several hours of tense negotiations we decided to open the Strait……

And to add to the Mariano’s portion of our program…..
exceptional service! Friendly staff all around. Fresh, warm chips and two salsas. Bottom is a warm (yes, I said warm) chipotle salsa. Top is a cold salsa with a little kick. Both were tasty and well balanced. We might have had seconds…..
Lookit this funky garnish on the house margarita!!!
I also enjoyed the steak-chicken fajitas in all its Tex-Mex glory, complete with a little side of queso that was spicy!!!
thank you jayjordan for an excellent recommendation 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
