Hope you can make this one Mike! Take a break from all the work….😎

I promise to be attending this time around. I've already told family and friends that I don't care if they die in a horrific Space X explosion that takes Fla off the map, you will see my grey SUV driving out of the melee like Mad Max, headed west. In that case, I will need to bring my dog Vivy, so beware. I'm glad it is Lafayette, not just because Cajun is a nice change from bbq (also can't really get Cajun here, although I can get everything else from Cuban to Ethiopian), but also it's close enough to drive. I've tried to avoid the news lately, but hard not to notice all the airline issues, what with repeated delays, weather, etc, and I'd much rather mosey there in my car. Can stop whenever I want, bring cooler, bag the airport yada yada, so I'll be there.

I'm a maybe. All depends on what my student teaching schedule looks like and I won't know that until some time in August.

Here’s a few restaurants our friend Beefchop recommended!

The Travel-to-Table cuisine & cocktail menu at Zea Rotisserie + Bar brings the wonders of the world to your table, igniting your curiosity.

On our pre-visit to Lafayette before the MeatUp last time, 58limited and I found out about this place about 20 minutes outside Lafayette. We didn’t eat there but made a visit just to check it out. Looks promising also! 👇

    One more…..

Johnson's Boucanaire was recommended to me. Locals in my area frequently drive the 2 hours to Little Big Cup, they rave about it.

If you click on the link to Johnson’s Boucanaire and then click on Reviews and Press, it says that The Food Network named them Louisiana’s Top BBQ Restaurant in 2022!

LA Pork Butt no, they aren't, but they do have good red beans and rice! I also like their roasted corn grits. I recommended it because it's a winner with locals. 58limited Johnson's is good - try their boneless rib (spicy Cajun rub) and/or boudin.

My heart says go, but my checkbook says sit your butt down dummy. I am however already working out how to turn a Spring in the Spring Meat-up into a week long vacation.

      BREAKING NEWS!

I just got off the phone with Laurie at Homewood Suites in Lafayette. We’re going to get a really good rate again, $122. per night for either a king Suite or a Double Queen! It’s only $3. a night more than what we paid last time…yahoo! Anyway, she’s going to send me the agreement to sign tomorrow, soon afterwards I’ll have the link for us to use to book our rooms. Stay tuned for more earth shattering developments! 🙄

One day I’ll get to this adventure, however, this year I have my annual pheasant hunting trip in SD as I’m trying to keep folks safe from the bird overpopulation and the bird flu. I’m accepting 7 1/2 shot high brass shotgun shells as donations in a gauge but 10.

I know you all will have a ball and look forward to reading about and seeing pics of the adventures.

Any of those three places… sorry, can’t make it this year. But next year, I’d like to try to be there. Louisiana, Kentucky maybe even Mississippi or Alabama.

Unfortunately this one conflicts with grandsons wedding. Also the kids didn't draw elk licenses this year so that gang won't be here which was our second possible conflict. Hopefully April works out, too much fun last time.

          Y’ALL BETTER BEHAVE!

CODE OF CONDUCT –LIABILITY FOR UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR _____

          • It is Homewood Suites by Hilton Lafayette-Airport desire to provide a safe and relaxing atmosphere for our guests. To that end,

Hotel requires that all guests adhere to a code of conduct that ensures that noise is kept to a reasonable level and unacceptable 👇👇👇👇

behavior is curtailed. The Hotel’s code of conduct includes but is not limited to excessive noise; intoxication; vulgar language; or

activities that cause damage to hotel property. Massachusetts State Police agrees to advise its group, team, guest or attendees of the

Hotel’s code of conduct. Anyone under the age of 13 year’s must be accompanied by an adult while in public areas of the hotel.

Quiet hours are from 11:00pm to 8:00am daily.

          • In the unlikely event that you, members of your group, team, guest, or attendees fail to adhere to the Hotel’s code of conduct, the

Hotel reserves the right to ask the violators to vacate the premises. No refund for room charges will be afforded when guests are

vacated due to violations of the code of conduct.

          • Additionally, should the Hotel incur additional costs associated with the unacceptable behavior, it will seek restitution from the

registered guest violating the Hotel’s code of conduct. If unable to collect from the registered guest, damages will be charged to the

group credit card on file. The Group contract signer agrees that it is their responsibility to provide this information to all group

          guests.

Just a little copy and paste from part of the agreement.

Do you all need to reserve and pay for the Massachusetts state trooper’s room so he/she can advise you all to keep the rowdiness down? Just wondering.

We were at Hilton Grand Vacations in Orlando once. Someone took their infant into the HUGE pool, like water park sized, and the poor kid’s bowels emptied. They had to drain, clean and sanitize, and refill the pool. It took most of a week. Guests were pissed. Even though there was another pool, the one that had been fouled was the really nice one with the slides and waterfalls etc.. Not sure if there were repercussions for that guest.
