Alrighty folks, here’s all the information you need to attend the next Texas MeatUp, where good friends and great BBQ will gather. It will actually be held in Spring, Tx, on the North side of Houston. There’s a great hotel in Spring called The Homewood Suites. It has all the amenities we’re looking for…nice rooms with a kitchenette and full size fridge in every room, a large indoor and outdoor gathering area..with 2 large gas grills if anyone wants to use them. And the best part is I was able to score us some great rates! A 1 King bed studio suite is only $119. per night! A 2 Queen 1 bedroom suite is only $139. per night! The NORMAL rate for these same rooms as of today are $179. to $235. Within a 30 minute or less drive are at least 4-5 top notch BBQ joints!….and you can’t spit in Houston without hittin’ a great Tex-Mex place for one of our meals. Here’s the scoop….


WHEN: Thursday April 10 thru Sunday April 13. If you want to stay longer, you will still get the discounted rate for each night of your stay.

IF YOU’RE FLYING IN: I strongly suggest flying into George Bush Intercontinental Airport. It’s on the North side of Houston and just a short drive to our hotel in Spring.

Even though I only live about 35-40 minutes from the hotel, I’ll be staying there also, Thu-Sun. Just booked my room. Just for starters, here’s 3 top notch BBQ spots, all within 20-30 minutes at the most, from the hotel. Corkscrew BBQ is in Spring, so it’s only 5-10 minutes from the hotel. 58limited and myself have eaten at all of these places previously and can vouch for the quality…they’re as good as it gets!

For Mosca or anyone else who might fly in….Intercontinental Airport is only about 14 miles from the hotel, maybe a 15-20 minute drive at the most. My suggestion would be to take an Uber from the airport to the hotel. It’s gonna be a lot cheaper than renting a car, there will be plenty of us Texas folks with their own cars there to get you around. Then Uber back to the airport Sunday.

Uncle Bob Since Lee and several people in our group like to eat Thai food for one of their dinners, I asked the sales manager at the hotel about any good Thai restaurants nearby. He said his personal favorite is only about 10 minutes away.

I'm not going to make it. I have the boys night out weekend with my cousins the last weekend in March, then my daughter is due to have my new grandson in early May. Plus I have my niece's graduation from GW sometime in there. Maybe I'll make the next one.

Panhead John The best way to order baby seal is as a fresh sub made table side. Very popular in Nunavut and the Arctic in general.

Don, as we all know, Duckbilled Platypus are native to The Gulf of Mexico. Being only 50 miles from the Gulf, I actually have my own Duckbilled Platypus trawler, so I get them fresh whenever I want. If you think baby seal is better than platypus, it’s apparent you’re only getting farm raised platypus. Baby seal can’t hold a candle to fresh Gulf platypus.
