OK! I’m fully locked and loaded.
    Flight to Houston: BOOKED!
    Hotel:BOOKED!

I vowed I would never fly anywhere again after 30+ years of almost constant travel for my career. I haven’t been on a plane in nine years as of last month. But I figured I’m running out of time to experience Texas BBQ so I sucked it up and made the commitment. The extra bonus is that I get to do it with my great friends from the Pit! I had a bunch of flier miles I had pretty much forgotten about so I used them and booked a free First Class fare. That should make the trip easier on me. Right?

Anyway, I’m super excited to see everyone in April. I was at the meetup in NC and had a blast. (I drove to that one). I’m sure this one will be great too. 👍🎉👏👏👌

realdocBBQ You missed that it is a FREE First Class fare. I’m wayyyyy too cheap to actually pay for that. 🤣😉

Currently planning a Thursday arrival and Sunday departure. SWMBO has a very good friend up in Conroe so there could be an additional day. I'll wait to book tickets until I know what's actually going to happen.

Alright Mike! While she’s visiting her friend, I’ll try to find us a good strip joint nearby.

Earlier in this post I included a link to some top BBQ joints in the area. One of them was to Tejas Choclate + BBQ which is located in nearby Tomball, well their website must be down so I’m including this here link. Troutman, 58limited and myself ate there a few years ago and here’s our thoughts about it.

Well, I’m finally able to walk in a straight line, instead of waddling like a duck. I’m in a BBQ coma right now. Troutman 58limited and myself had a little meat up this morning at Tejas Chocolate + BBQ in Tomball, Tex., just a little north of Houston. Steve and I only had about a 35-40 minute drive from our respective

That was one of the best bites of brisket I've ever had.

There’s another good BBQ place in Spring called 3rd Coast BBQ. I’d heard of it before but it’s been a while. The BBQ editor for Texas Monthly, Daniel Vaughn, has visited before and liked it. They also make a brisket boudin! Supposed to be really good.

No matter how you spell it Barbecue or BBQ, you can expect award-winning barbecue right here in Spring, TX. 3rd Coast BBQ is pure goodness.

Is Missouri City close to anything we are interested in? I have an old high school friend I haven’t seen in 50 years who lives there.

Mosca Tom if them coming to the meetup doesn’t work out I’ll loan you my pickup to go see them. That’s if I get to come. Right now I see no reason I can’t. It looks like the loop would get you close.

Naw, I don’t care about the cost of a rental (to a point); it’s all about independence. And is Houston traffic about the same as anywhere else congested in the USA? It can’t be worse than Chicago. Or NYC, Philly, etc. Those are all pretty bad, I’d expect Houston to be the same.

I hate to miss this one since I have been to the last 3 Meat Ups. I have other commitments that weekend. I strongly encourage all who can make it to attend a Meat Up. The Pit members are great to meet and hangout with plus the food is good.

Okay, I’m in! Arriving around 6:30 Wednesday, it was cheaper to fly a day early by more than the cost of the room; ~$250 vs $119!

Vewwy Impotent Update for all attendees: Bring a cooler!

Even if you’re flying in bring some type of small cooler or insulated bag. Don’t ask why.
I’ll remind everyone again the week before.

My plane doesn’t leave until 6:30 on Sunday. That sounds to me like smoked ribeye for lunch.

Great video Bob. 58limited and I got to eat there last year, here’s our thoughts on the place…👍👍

About 60 miles North of me is a little town called Montgomery, Tx. For about a year and a half now it’s been home to a place called Bar-A-BBQ. They’ve been getting a lot of rave reviews online. …Texas Monthly even added them to their 25 Best New or Improved BBQ Joints in Texas list. After hearing so much about them, 58limited

Been watching all of Cooper's vids on YouTube lately - apparently he's decided to cash in on his growing notoriety. I like the videos, I'm interested in things they do a little differently than some other places. Pretty interesting. Glad to see guys who are essentially 'startups' actually succeed. Makes me wish I could do something similar. But no, that's not my path. Still pretty cool to see.

Bar A BBQ offers one-on-one classes every Thursday and Friday…. I wonder what it would take to get a group class.

I just sent out an email asking.
