ID:	1415443 Well I did about 530 miles today. Approximately 260 to go per google maps. In spite of the various construction on the way, it was smooth sailing. Traffic was light and moved right along.

I stopped in a small town called Gallipolis, OH right off US HWY 35. The Hampton Inn was full so I ended up in the Super 8. What a dump. Oh well. 🤷‍♂️

Desk clerk directed me to a pub right across from the Ohio river (I think). Food was terrific, people friendly, and the perfect spot in the end. Here’s a couple pics.

        see you all tomorrow.

That’s great, although I’m jealous. I could only do 380 in 7+ hours.

        See you soon,

Edit to add: hooray for free WiFi. Breakfast of champions since flight had small delay and I might not have time to eat in Atlanta.

Sid P I think something is up with the forum time zone. Seems to be on Mountain instead of the usual Central Time.

Here I am on my first night at the Meat Up with great company and food, and we lost Panhead John. Last we heard, he left the restaurant looking for a guy from North Carolina called "Texas Pete." He was mumbling something about calling Texas Pete a liar to his face...

my turn for fun... limped from the freeway to an autozone... my cv axle on my new (500ish miles old) prop shaft exploded... now waiting 3 hours for the part to be shipped here... from MY local autozone which was the only one that had it in stock. Only 110 miles from home right now, so worst case a tow will only hurt a little...

Part should be here in 2 more hours, it'll only take about 15 minutes to throw it on... assuming the part comes on time and without any defects.

Well... the part wasn't ordered properly. So debating on sleeping in the Hummer or grabbing a hotel but really don't wanna waste anymore cash. I could risk driving home, but if the transfer case pops out of 4hi lock, I'm screwed without the front driveshaft installed. I also can't get a refund on the part at my local store until I've physically picked it up from this one so... no point in doing anything other than staying put. In a few weeks it'll all be a great joke, but extremely unhappy with this Autozone I asked multiple times for verification it was ordered this morning, but the order missed the shipping deadline.

I seriously was just gonna buy a very big knife and sleep in my car, the AutoZone people said the area was kinda ghetto but my Vegas honed spidey senses weren't going off...

Ultimately didn't want my wife and my Mom worrying so... it's no Winston Hampton... and you have to slide your room key in (those who know me know why I'm sad), but for the same price as our group rate this Graham NC Quality Inn isn't so bad other than being in BFE... fingers crossed my part is in at 930 am, there's no rain, and I'm back on the road tomorrow 15 minutes after I get the part...

Good call not to sleep in the car. As you said, this will be a road trip memory to soon be forgotten. Hang in there.

So when I say this hotel is in BFE... on the map there's a Waffle House and a gas station a short walk away... well, due to undisclosed topography it is not a straight shot... there's a house across from the hotel and there are multiple chickens in the surrounding woods, couldn't get a pic of one but there were at least 2 roosters.
