ALSO: Remember, you don’t have to book for just Friday and Saturday, if you’d like to stay longer. There’s several of us who will be staying Thursday through Sunday….or longer.

I was considering showing up, but it'd be pretty dirty to visit my parents in OK then ask to borrow a car
Y'all have fun!

Mr. Bones I think it would be even worse if I went to TX for a BBQ thing and didn't visit my Mom
It's a one or the other kinda thing, but ya never know. Depending on if/what the new job is I might randomly show up

Damnit ..... this sounds like another great event and I really wish we could make it. As everyone knows, we've had a bit of drama and that is why I don't expect to be there.
This is gonna be a blast, though.

ROOM AVAILABILITY UPDATE 12/29/21 I just spoke to Dan at the Rainbow. There’s ONLY 14 ROOMS left. 4 of those are in our blocked section. Which means they’re specific rooms he chose to guarantee for AR people. All the rooms are different in size, features and furnishings. You can book a room outside of our blocked rooms if you wish, but the other 10 are fair game for anyone to book and should go quickly. I suggest to anyone on the fence, go ahead and book your room and if needed you can cancel it later.Last edited by Panhead John; December 30, 2021, 08:11 AM.

TO SAY I’M IMPRESSED IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT!
The generosity and spirit of our members is truly remarkable! "So far,"…6 of our 13 member attendees are traveling great distances from out of state, to come to our little Texas shindig. I’d like nothing more than for the Texans to be outnumbered by our out of state members…wouldn’t that be awesome! Folks check this out…..
1. Jfrosty27 is driving approx. 1,142 miles from Wisconsin to Rockdale
2. CaptainMike is flying or driving approx. 1,500 miles…for the THIRD time! WOW!
3. Jim White is flying approx. 1,000 miles
4. MBMorgan is flying approx. 750 miles
5. CandySueQ and Spinaker I’m not sure, but they’re probably not very close at all to Rockdale.
And just last October ecowper flew approx. 1,750 miles!
I can speak for the rest of our Texas members I’m sure, when I say thank you guys and gals for doing this, much appreciated!Last edited by Panhead John; December 31, 2021, 12:31 AM.

On a practical note, do most of the places we’re likely to be eating and/or (gasp!) drinking take plastic or is a healthy wad of cash advised?

Plastic is fine. Most will even split checks, if needed. I do bring a wad of cash for convenience sake, though. I think ecowper and I exchanged the same wad of cash at least 3 times.Last edited by CaptainMike; December 30, 2021, 03:52 PM.

"Should" being the operative word. There’s also the question of just how much heat to pack in light of unsavory moustache twirl’n hombres like PJ hanging around. Now, if he’d just stick to twirl’n his OWN moustache, things might be a little more relaxed.Last edited by MBMorgan; December 30, 2021, 03:58 PM.

When CaptainMike and I met for the first time, at the first MeatUp last June, we were the only ones there that Thursday. Below is our comments after spending the evening together. To this day.. I still get a tear in my eye reading it. 😢
