I've resisted for 12 years but couldn't withstand the MCS any longer. Lang 48 Original Patio. I've done a couple of rib cooks in it and have zero regrets. Yesterday I cooked 12 racks of ribs for my daughter's (Bret) graduation celebration. She finished the Paul Mitchell school Thursday and is starting her career. Had all of my children and grandchildren in the backyard, which is the best.
Congrats Dave! I remember you’d been talking a little bit about maybe getting an offset, glad to see it happen. And congrats to your daughter on her graduation and new career! Good looking family ya got there.
Retired, living in Western Mass. Enjoy music, cooking and my family.
Current cookers Weber Spirit 3 burner with a full insert griddle added. A 22" Kettle with vortex, SnS and a Smokey Joe. The most recent addition is a Pit Barrel Jr with bird hanger, 4 hooks and cover. ThermoWorks Smoke 2 probe, DOT, 2 ThermoPops and a Thermapen MK4. A Thermoworks RFX Gateway 2 probe meat thermometer.
I of course love smoked meats of all kinds, but also like quick cooks like chicken portions, pork tenderloins, steak and fish. Really into cooking of all kinds.
My outdoor kitchen has a Lone Star Grillz Adjustable and it is wonderful. There also is a Pit Boss 5 Burner Ultimate Griddle and a Pit Boss Copperhead pellet grill.
There is an outdoor fire pit that has grilling capability and limited Santa Maria-style grill raising and lowering.
Ha ha. I'm late updating it. Waiting for the new sod around the outside to perk up and to get the TV installed. Also cooking for 44 folks from the church showing up in a few hours.
Congrats on the new cooker. Bigger congrats to your daughter on her graduation. Best of luck as she ventures into the real world. I’m sure it was heartwarming having all your kids together for the celebration.
Wow that’s a happy lookin bunch. Congratulations the graduate and the proud dad. That’s an impressive cook, 12 racks at once. You don’t need much instruction at all.
Thanks brother! I picked the Lang because they are made in Nahunta, GA, which is not too far away from here. Shipping was not terribly expensive. That, and their reputation. So far, the cooker has lived up to that reputation. It's extremely thick steel and once it comes to temp it's like a Kamado, in that it doesn't really require much babysitting except to add a split every hour or so.
