The article was interesting. With all of the good comments about Costco, I would like to be able to shop at one. There still is not one in the whole little state of RI. Plans to build one did not pan out twice.

Yes, Panhead John , I'm surprised there isn't one here yet but I was told that the market is a bit small for one. I wonder if they include Orange and Hardin counties in their statistics - they all come to Beaumont to shop. I really want one here.

Good article. First off, I had no idea they had been around for 35 years.
i joined for the first time 2 years ago solely based on comments here about their meats.
I’ve been impressed with their meat section, but I’ve narrowed my purchases down to a few select items I like, and don’t deviate. Buy in bulk, portion & vacuum seal, and I'm set for awhile. A few items I had been purchasing (chicken being the big one), I’ve found I can get better quality and value by catching sales at local supermarkets. I’m not much of a browser when I go. Been there enough to know what products are a value to my family,I get those that I need, and I’m out. I usually go once or twice a month on a Mon or Tue afternoon on my way home from work. Never on weekends. It’s never very crowded at the times I go.
Not sure if that puts me in the cult or not🤷🏻

Seems I'm the contrarian non-cultist here. On principle I refuse to shop at a big box store with a cover charge. I don't think I'm missing anything!

The best thing about Costco is they offer Trager Grills and no PBC, hehehehe

We had a membership when we were first married and we went crazy buying all the unnecessary stuff like Mexican coke and other treats and snacks. I think we were making a combined maximum of around $30-35k per year, had no car to get gas for and we trying to pay off our school debt fast, so we had to end that money bleed.

Fast forward a few years later and we have bought a car and have 2 kids. We realized that Costco diapers were essentially the same as huggies and they had good prices on formula. Plus their gas prices are really good, especially here in Chicago where gas is way inflated. We had figured out a really good budgeting and shopping system and had the motivation to buy only what we needed to survive. Up until we went to a Costco Business Center this week, we have mostly only bought what we planned on buying and nothing else. We broke that this week, but need to avoid too many massive trips…

I do most of my shopping at Costco. I get in and get out. And the store I go to does not have a liquor store, so there even fewer people there.

I love the meats, cheap bulk coffee, butter, ghee, sardines, avocado oil, peanut oil, waterloo mineral water, socks and work gloves. That’s about all I buy. And all I really need.

if you do the Facebook thing ..... our local Costco has a doorkeeper named Lee who has his own Facebook fan page. It's amazing!

I’m a member, but rarely physically go to the store anymore. It was great when we had the kids, but they’re all grown now. I do buy stuff from Costco online. Just bought some pants and that Henckle bbq set (bought two) for Christmas presents. For meat, I’ll go to Restaurant Depot.
