Over the years, I’ve eyed various griddles but just never pulled the trigger. Either just didn’t really like what I saw at some stores for the price, or just didn’t want to add another cooker on the patio because of the space. So, I made due with my cast iron griddle either in the house on the stove top or on the grill but that was just ok.
This weekend at the lake we were out and about just enjoying the day in Truth or Consequences, NM and went to Tractor Supply to find a converter for my dad’s 22” Blackstone so he could use a 20lb propane tank with it at the lake house. Well…….if you wouldn’t know it, Tractor Supply has a 36” 4 burner sitting out and is on sale…and from what I can tell, was a killer deal compared to what I see on the interwebs. I’m looking at a smaller 22” with a stand and see a sign that says 36” 4 burner Blackstone - $249, regularly $349. This is the model with a lifting hard top and nice caster wheels. So I ask…is this 36” really $249??? Yes it is…
I walked away thinking and the manager asked if I had any questions and I said I’d look at the Tractor back home because I didn’t have a way to get back. He said he had one boxed and wanted to keep the money in TorC so offered a Blackstone accessory as a throw in to sweeten the deal. I thought about it for a bit and the wife told me quit analyzing and just buy it already!
That’s what I did - got a cleaning set thrown in, which I realize now I probably didn’t need but oh well. The scraper works nice, as I already used that
but..when I go to pay, price shows $299…but my buddy Fernando took care of me and honored the $249 (which I think was a mistake - but my win!)
So, came home today and put this griddle together and got in 4 seasonings with the Blackstone seasoning stuff and got it nestled in it’s home on the patio with the other cookers!

This was packaged well and everything in the box as supposed to be. Was easy to put together on my own and within a few hours I was in the backyard cleaning up the patio for the season now that it’s warmed up a little. But here we are all set for the seasoning process.

And this is after the first seasoning, it really took well and colored up evenly.

I think this was the third application, looking good - so after the fourth application it was good for me!

so I let it cool down while my wife and I cleaned up the patio, as it was dirty dirty and full of dust and sand from the winter. But, you can see it on the far side sitting next to the built in grill waiting for dinner!

and speaking of dinner……..first thing to go on were some diced onions for some New Mexico Green Chile Cheese Smash Burgers!!!!!!!

these were the finest smash burgers I’ve ever had. Couldn’t believe how quickly they cooked and the crust that formed….oh my! I’m gonna love this thing! Nice not to have to clean up the stove top and be outside cooking!
and that’s my MCS story
