What is the best way to clean the dome of a Weber?

I have three different sized plastic putty knives I use for scraping my grills. I never worry about getting the dome "clean" but it is prone to having the kind of buildup that can flake down on food, so I just flip it over, scrape what comes off easily enough with the putty knife, then brush it into the trash.

That is the most cleaning I have ever bothered doing to the lid in like... 9 years.

With everything but the grates themselves, if a putty knife can't dislodge it, I'm not worried about it affecting the cook at all.

If it's the outside I leave in place and wipe down with soapy water. If it's the inside i remove and turn updide down and use the top half of a plastic 2 liter bottle that catches most of the scraping to dispose of and then hot soapy water. 😊
If I had a pressure cleaner it would be a whole lot easier.🙈

A friend of mine swears by these nylon drill brush attachments. After reading this thread it seems like there are many ways to get the job done.

The Drillbrush Power Scrubber is a cleaning brush attachment that turns your cordless drill into a scrubbing machine. By inserting Drillbrush into a cordless drill or impact driver, you can clean quicker and easier than ever before! 13 years of innovation makes us a leader in quality and the fastest name in cleaning!

Rest it on your trash can (the one that goes to the curb) and scrape it with a ball of foil.

There is one of those self-serve car washes with the pressure washers a few minutes from my house. I take my grates, etc. there.

I always feel self-conscious about being "that guy", Attjack. But we do what we gotta do.

If I can take my 4x4 covered in mud and wash it down the drain why not my grills?

I hadn't thought about that. As I mentioned before, I don't care about much more than the grates but... it wouldn't hurt to pop in a few quarters and get my grates cleaned up without having to deal with the grease at all.

I used the link HawkerXP posted and finished with Simple Green. Worked like a charm.
