What is the best way to clean the dome of a Weber?

What is the best way to clean/scrape the dome of your Weber Kettle. I have yet to find an easy/quick/not messy way.

I usually end up covered with black specs and then my two dogs spend the next two days digging around where I cleaned the dome.

    Thanks

    Steve

Hot soapy water and a brillo pad should work just fine. Pumice soap would probably be even better.

Probably not the best way...I have an old grill brush, the kind with the replaceable brushes that you screw on. There’s no brush on it so I just use it as a scraper to knock off any flaky build up as needed. I do it so any flakes drop into the lid, then dump it in the grass. My dog doesn’t seem interested in it.

"Simple Green" cuts the grease build up pretty well.

I power wash and leave in the sun to dry.

I use an old credit card. Ever get those fake ones in junk mail? Those work too. If I can't find it, a foil ball.

Love the Simple Green. I buy the concentrate in one gallon containers from Amazon and mix it 1:1 with water. Does a great job with a wire brush, then simply hose off. The little bit that's left you may have to get after on a second pass but I really don't bother. Gonna get dirty again in no time anyway !!!

                  I use dome cleaner. 😎

Seriously, heat. I cook until it gets to a point where there are big flakes. Peel em off, done.

I don't bother washing down the lid interior. I just use a nylon brush to knock the big flakes off.

It's actually self cleaning. Big chunks will eventually fall off by them selves.

I have never cleaned a Weber dome. I thought buildup was something called "well seasoned".

I just use a wire brush and tap it on the grass. The lose ones come off the others stay on.

Flip over and put in yard waste can. Use razor scraper as seen in http://weberkettleclub.com/weber-gri...ttle-cleaning/
