Long Overdue I cleaned the Bowl of the Kettle

    I have a Weber that I really need to do a deep clean on. The ash sweeper is pretty much frozen in place. I have tried scraping all the gunk from around it but it still won't turn. Will probably end up replacing the sweepers and I might as well give it a good cleaning while I am doing that. Right now I only use that particular grill when I do Vortex chicken so having the vents stuck open all the time isn't the worst thing ever.

    When I do scrape my grills a simple putty knife usually does the trick but when I want it really clean I will use a razor blade paint scraper. Doesn't damage the enamel but gets off all the other stuff.

      I haven't cleaned my kettle in the almost year that I've been using it. I tend not to clean my grates either, just brush them while they're hot. Anyway, the creosote of the lid has started flaking and the ash sweeps are getting harder to crank, so I bought this stuff to see if it will make the cleaning job easy.
