26” kettle not listed on Weber’s website

Was just on Weber’s website, dreaming of some possible Christmas gifts for myself, and noticed that the 26” kettle is not listed on their website. For the last couple of months it was listed as ‘out of stock,’ but I figured that this is a low production item and with colder weather setting in, they probably paused production until spring. But now I don’t know. What’s more is that the 26” kettle isn’t available through Home Depot (my local big box store), but does seem to be available through Lowe’s or Ace.

Has anyone heard if Weber was planning on discontinuing the 26” kettle? I did a quick google search and couldn’t find anything. I suppose it’s possible that Weber just stopped production until spring and went ahead and removed it from their site until then, but I think it’s odd that they totally removed it from their website. I’ve been planning on upgrading my 22” to the 26” for awhile, am wondering if I need to jump on any remaining 26” kettles while I can.

I'm figuring they discontinue. Then run some limited editions with jacked up $$$$$'s.

If they made a 26 in. Performer I'd be on it in a heartbreak.

Me too, I've been wanting something like that for several years.

Bad news kettle fans, just got off the phone with Weber. The rep that I talked to confirmed that the 26” kettle has been permanently discontinued (at least for the 2024 calendar year). If you want one, need to start scouring around and jump on it!!!!!

DogFaced PonySoldier I know, I've been eyeing them too. My 22" gets along just fine, but as my 4 kids get older, I'm going to need the bigger 26". Now my question is, do I preemptively buy one (before I really need it) or figure I will just cross that bridge when I get there and hope that Weber comes out with some kind of 26" replacement (or just get a Hasty Bake instead).

Got mine used in 2010 for $150 because the guy cut off the handle. I’m sad it’s discontinued.

I may have one for sale soon in the Boise area. I bought a used 26 incher first a couple of years ago based on all the recommendations out there on the interwebs. Then I picked up a used Master Touch. While the space is nice on the 26er, the lid is heavy. Much heavier than the Master Touch. It's enough to really discourage me from using the 26er. I have had some elbow issues over the years (tennis elbow), so that doesn't help for me.

I followed the lead of Attjack and put a handle on the front of the lid, it makes it a lot easier.

The hoop catch built into the back of kettle allows you to simply lift and roll the lid back into its cradle. Once you master that simple lift and roll technique the lid is not an issue.

My son has a 26” and the mounts on the leg welds eventually. I think the cause is the extra weight on three legs. I had to build him a table and purchase angle mounts. I am with Bkhuna the 26” with a performer table would be wonderful and probably a little pricey until the production curve brought the price down.

I had this same issue with mine right out of the box. I received 2 replacement bowls under warranty with the same terrible/nonexistent welds before I gave up and built it into a SS food prep table with casters like I had been considering for a while.

Here's what I did to make it operate almost as if on a hinge.

I agree this is a problem solved but as I said above if you simply lift and roll the lid it makes it effortless imho

My 26” is almost rusted through. I was going to replace it, since it is a 26” performer.

Interesting. I was torn between this and the SNS kettle a few years ago. I know people love these things, but the detractors brought up valid points that I could see myself agreeing with so I went with the SNS. Glad I did. I always wondered how popular this grill was. Between this and the 18in one I figured that would be discontinued first.

Well, this is a bummer, but is likely due to low sales. If they were making lots of money selling 26” kettles, they wouldn’t be discontinuing it. I imagine for a larger charcoal grill they push folks to their kamado grill now.

I’ve owned every type of cooker from a large stick burner to the smallest of hibachis and the 26 inch has proved to be my favorite cooker of all time. Not only does it have the room you need for cooking a large amount of food, it's versatile enough to be a smoker, a grill (both direct and indirect) and with the proper accessories, a direct fire SM type cooker. As many of you know I have made the argument that given one cooker I was ever forced to own, it would definitely be the 26.

It’s a shame that they can’t get a larger following to justify continuing to build them. I guess I need to treat mine with loving care because I’d never give it up.
