Earlier this year one of our friends shared their bounty of green beans with us. I wanted to do something different than just steam them so I went looking for recipes for smoked green beans. I found what looked liked a good candidate, which included lots of bacon. Perfect. It also included a healthy dose of vinegar. As I dumped the vinegar into the hot pan in which the bacon and beans had been prepared to be placed in the smoker, the vaporized vinegar hit me in the face, and I remembered that I hate vinegar. For years I thought I didn't like green beans, but I loved green beans, if they didn't have vinegar on them, as my parents liked them. How I could have forgotten this I have no idea. There are a few dishes I can tolerate, if the amount of the dreaded liquid is kept at a minimum. This was not a minimum. Maybe the act of smoking the concoction would somehow lessen the vinegar, so I went ahead and put it in the smoker. When I took it out, and presented it to my wife, even though she does not have the aversion I do, she could barely get a few bites down. Even the bacon was ruined, which was the greatest disaster. We threw it away and agreed never to speak of this event again. Or at least we agreed I would never try to make it again.

Wow. Can't say I ever had green beans made with vinegar in them. Doesn't sound enjoyable!

I really like vinegar, especially apple cider, but not sure about vinegar and green beans. I love soaking sliced onions and cucumbers in ACV.

Way to many far to often, to pick just one!

Bean soup, one hammock is good, two even better a third had to be great. WRONG! It turned into a brutally salty soup.

40+ years working this system / platform and I’ve never done this!!! Pork roast is timed perfectly to be done at the 90 min mark. Getting potatoes to perfect at the same time on a separate kettle, childs play. Seriously my daughter could time this out!
Probably not enough Jack Daniels in my system to be cooking, ya that’s it…
I just did the same thing but in the oven. I was trying to roast some potatoes in the oven and after about 45 minutes I couldn't figure out why they were not browning up. Turns out that about halfway through I turned off the oven while messing with the timer.
