I would sit and see how long those set around in the 250-300 price range. I listed mine at $140 and had it sold in three days, but then again I only paid $70 for it.

So all I need to do is find someone who bought theirs for 70 bucks and only wants to double their money.

I agree with rickgregory, if it doesn't have a working gas assist then move on.

Thanks for your help here folks.

To be honest, I'm a total noob to Webers. I just rehired my BGE (long story). Now all I have is a stick burner (KBQ) and am in need of a grill.

The only fancy thing I'd like to have (as far as accessories etc, is the ability tp grill direct and indirect (i.e. two zone).

I do like the table option, because one always needs some place to put meat, sauce, tools, etc.. I certainly don't need the gas assist.

That being said, other than the gas assist and the table, is the Performer simply a plain ole' garden variety 22" kettle?

A lot of this is regional as far as availability and price, driven in part by how much competition there is (as noted in some of the other replies_). Also, FB Marketplace, in Central Tx anyway, seems more used to advertise than Craigslist. I watch these and a few other cooker types just for the education of what market activity looks like. A buyer will sometimes box themselves in for options by wanting to buy "right now" when the notion strikes them...................yep, MCS is a demon. Since I watch over time I see an ebb and flow. Many folks will do what Panhead John and others have said, search and post up ads for new list to justify their ask. Sometimes that works if the "right" buyer (highly self motivated) and that reasoning appeals. I suspect more of the buyers are playing the waiting game as many of the one's I see start out in that $250-300 range will languish for a couple weeks then start the downward creep of prices as the seller learns that the market doesn't agree with their suppositions. And they are probably tired of what they consider low ball offers, which they will get, but they probably passed on some realistic ones they didn't recognize as such at that time in their learning curve. The sweet spot right now, around here, looks to be in the $150-200 range for a wide range of condition. Beat up ones are very slow to sell and the ad disappears probably when the lister gets tired and just gets rid of it somehow. The others range from decent used to little used, and on occasion, still in the box. Those selling prices are down this year from the last two years by a bit, and length of time listed on the market are slightly longer. I'm guessing the pandemic drove demand over the previous time, and now the market is settling back.

Just for grins here's an example, was posted at $150 for a week or so, just renewed with a $25 reduction two days ago: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...8-2fb0a66e25ae

I'm not sure, but I think the drive down to Texas would kind of offset the savings. As far as the regional thing goes.

The ignitor on the older Performer Deluxe is a Piezo-electric clicker type, and is $25 to replace, at Weber list price:

      https://www.weber.com/US/en/accessor...kit/10470.html

On the very latest Performers, it is a battery powered ignitor, using a single AA battery, and costs about $35 to replace:

Kit includes electrode wire, ground wire, ignition module and housing, fastening hardware, battery, and instruction sheet. Please double check the specs and fits info to ensure that you’re choosing the best part for your grill. I am not sure when they switched over to electronic ignition. If I had to guess, it was around 2017 when they did the same on the Genesis II and Spirit II lines. Personally, I've had more failures to ignite with my Genesis II AA powered ignition system than I ever had with my 2002 Genesis or 2007 Performer Deluxe piezo ignitor. Granted, I replaced those at least once on each of those older grills since they were new.

Basically, YES, the Performer is just a 22" premium/master touch kettle in a cart with a table, plus gas assist. However, it goes beyond that. I've had plain old kettles, but I never loved them the way I love my Performer Deluxe. The expansive work table is part of it. Charcoal storage, propane ignition, and a storage shelf also contribute. It's just a really good grill for both direct cooking and low and slow. I hated the INSTABIILITY of my older 3 legged kettle - I love the sturdy cart the Performer comes in.

Accessories for any 22" kettle are endless. What I have, and use, in order of usage, are: SNS (original), Vortex, Drip 'N Griddle, Grillgrates (full set) - great for full grill 1-zone setups without flareups, and the Weber rotisserie. The rotisserie is great, but I only bust it out a couple of times a year so far.

Between my Performer and my kamado, I rarely use my offset/stick burner anymore, just because I can get same or similar results without all the hands on fire management with the kettle and kamado.

Well, my Performer is a couple of decades old,.s It has the composite side table, and no charcoal bin, gas start assist, etc, like newer models. But, you would not i get mine for a mere $250 in today's market. Works as good as it did the day it was made! YMMV

jjdbike I think the consensus I am seeing, as well as my own experience looking for these Performers on Craigslist and Facebook, is that in today's market, $250 is reasonable if it is in good shape, even with the ignitor not working. At worst case you spend $25 on a new ignitor. The fact is these grills just don't seem to show up around here as cheap as they once did, and I've not seen one for less than $250 in some time on my local FB Marketplace.

I just checked, and there is ONE Performer with the metal table for sale within 50 miles of me on FB, and they are asking $275 for a Performer Premium, with cover, and it does not have the propane ignition that the Performer Deluxe has. There is one older Performer Deluxe with the plastic side table for $200 that is 160 miles away in Georgia.

My Performer Deluxe is the 2007 model, and I got it in 2017 for $100 from a friend, that included the cover, a full set of Grillgrates, and a hose to connect a 20# propane tank. BUT it was also from a friend who had to get rid of it before his new Yoder YS640 showed up, based on his wife's ultimatum that limited his grill count to 5 on the back porch... if he had more time and had been selling to someone other than a friend, I bet he would have asked more even back then.

I agree with Jim. If you really want one and don’t wanna buy new, I’d say go for it and not worry about trying to get it for any cheaper. The guy sounds like he won’t go lower anyway. I wouldn’t let a $25. or so drop in price stop me from getting it. You never know, someone can swoop in and pay his asking price, then you miss out. It’s also not like there’s 10 or 15 of these things for sale in your area, and you can just pick which one you want. It could be a while before you find another one.

I'm so ashamed. I hope all you astute shoppers who wouldn't spend more than $100 for a never used, perfect Performer Deluxe won't ostracize me, but I showed my wife a picture of a used one, and she is insisting I buy a brand new one (preferably put together by someone else, considering what happened last week). Of course she's already ordered the next item on her wish list to keep things even.

The closest Ace Hdwe to me has a Premium for $459. One I'll be going by tomorrow has a Deluxe in stock, so I'll check on it tomorrow. But I really don't want to by one til at least Friday, because that's when the coupon that came in today's mail takes effect.

Sorry guys, I'd really like to find a good deal, but my wife is really hard to get along with. 🤣😁

I hope I’m wrong for your sake but all of the ace hardware coupons I ever get have fine print on the back that specifically state that can’t be used for Weber products, BGE, etc. You may want to check that before going. Bogy

Andrrr, I'll check, the price is still better than I have seen anywhere else. Strangely enough, their price is $50 less than a sister store 15 miles away. If I can't use it for the grill itself I may just need to use it on a stockpile of charcoal.

            #26
Just get it. You’ll forget the extra $50 after your first cook and you’re stuffing your face.
I only use the charcoal bin for smoking chips and chunks storage.

I’ve always stored a full bag of charcoal dumped into the bin, and a bag of wood chunks, and a charcoal scoop. Works great, and no issues with even year old charcoal from the bottom of the bin.

I bought one in 2019 for $75 or $80. Gas assist worked but cooking grate was rusted so I replaced it. A couple of scratches on the lid. Came with a cover and new chimney. Used it many times up north but going to give it to my daughter for her college apartment.

*EDIT* Found the old post jfmorris dated it as a 2006.
Sold my Large BGE and picked up a new XL. Breaking her in now. Also grabbed a Weber Performer with gas lighting on CL for $75.00. Good day to me! Performer needs

Above I mentioned there is likely a regional component to availability, but it may be even more of a factor than I imagined. I'm not actively searching by product name and keep coming across these just by accident..............how many haven't I seen?

This one needs a little help, but I've never seen a white plastic version. You Weber experts might be familiar. (1) Marketplace - Weber performer grill | Facebook
