    Used performer deluxe, worth price?

I am in need of a charcoal kettle that will fit a slow & sear. I found a "like new" used Weber Performer Deluxe Copper Kettle. The gas assist is not working though. They want $250 which includes cover.
    Is it worth $250?
    Thanks in advance,
    JD

    My Performer purchase history.
I've never paid more than $175, red with new lid.
Free, black. Reconditioned and passed on to a young couple.
Free, plum. Reconditioned and sold for $100.
    $125, black, with cover.
I also bought a 26" from an AR member, SnS and Vortex. $165.

I got an older black preformer deluxe a couple of years ago. Also the gas assist doesn’t work for I think $100.
but if it’s fairly new and really clean maybe not too bad. See if he’ll take $200

      I offered $200, then $225. They’re not budging.
I’m considering offering $250, w/ them fixing gas assist.

To be honest. I almost never use the gas assist anymore. Gas bottles (empty) are not accepted by the recycle people and I seem to have a lot of empties. I also have a lot of empty bags of KBB. Went the chimney way.

I bought mine for $100. It's the original stainless model and it came with a working gas assist but I had to replace the sweepers.

A new one is around $575. or so. If it’s in really good shape and includes the cover, $250. is not too bad of a deal I think. The people here who got one for much less, might have bought them years ago when the price was lower than they are now. Inflation and supply chain issues are affecting everything these days, including used merchandise.

I see them all the time on facebook marketplace for under $200, just keep looking and you'll see one. Heck I just found a brand new in the box performer deluxe for $350 and a 26" for $300. Now my own MCS is starting to kick in again....LOL

Here ya go Dadof3Illinois, not a Deluxe but similar....and it's been sitting advertised for a week so might not find a buyer easily: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...type=top_picks

If it's in otherwise like new condition, maybe. But you can find a better deal most likely.

I might pay that much if the gas assist was working, but not on this one.

It’s not like there’s a ton of these things being sold online in any particular area. Just for grins, I checked Craigslist and eBay for Weber Performer Deluxe. In Houston, Tx. area [4th largest city in the U.S.] I found 2 on Craigslist and one on eBay.
A quick search also found 2 others in good condition in other states. One was asking $270.[New Jersey] and the other was asking $350.[Oklahoma]
Here’s what I found here locally. This guys asking $410.!

This one’s asking $50. but it’s in bad shape and has 2 fairly large rust holes in the bowl.

I too think it could be cheaper, but rarely see a Performer for sale for any less online these days.

jfmorris Just curious, what’s the most common problem with those igniters if they’re bad? It should be a fairly easy and inexpensive fix, wouldn’t you think?

Panhead John it’s a piezo type click igniter, and you just replace the red button and it has a wire that runs to the igniter itself under the propane burner. The button itself is usually the issue, as that is what generates the voltage when you click it.

Here’s the one in Oklahoma that’s on eBay. He’s asking $350.

It says "reserve not met" at $350, so he expects even more. It is one of the older models that some revere but if nobody steps up he's whistling'.

Yeah. I only posted these to give people an idea of what they’re actually selling for. There’s no way people are selling prime condition Webers like that for $100. or so, unless they’re wealthy and don’t care.

It's actually possible these days for people to look online and see what new ones cost. And what other people are asking for their used ones. Even little old ladies who only used theirs on Sunday are online these days.

You suck Panhead John 😂 You know I live in New York. Thankfully my preformer does what I want. 😅

You know I love ya my friend.
Unfortunately it really gets me cause of my copper kettle that I already have. They sure would look nice next to each other.
                NO!!! I must resist. 🙏🏻

Not without the gas assist. Without that it's just a kettle with a table. There are a few Perfomers on Craigslist here for about that price but they have (or claim to have) everythng working

+1 on this. Gas assist is the point of this particular Weber.

Without the gas assist, just a kettle with a table? I believe it’s more than that. Some people don’t really care for the gas assist that much. Even so, it’s a cheap fix usually if it doesn’t work. Not a real game changer IMO.

How nice for you guys in places where you can barely move without tripping all over Weber Performers people are giving away! Just checked Craigslist, there are a grand total of 2 listed in the state of Iowa, both about 2 hours from me. One is a 5 year old Performer, for $200. The other is a Performer Premium that looks to be fairly new for $280. $250 doesn't look that bad, if the igniter is the only problem.

Bkhuna I finally found one in copper for $350 a 4 hour round trip away. Only used a few times and then it was replaced with a pellet burner.
