I will jump in based on what Bbqmikeg said. While I do not have the WSCG, I do have a SNS Deluxe Kamado, which has the vent on the top center of the lid. I have no issues smoking in either kamado mode, or in "SNS Mode" using the SNS. The vent being top dead center does not prevent the convection currents from moving smoke over the meat on the indirect side when using the SNS. I've opened the lid during a cook, and tons of smoke is hanging out in the cooking grate area, and even below it.
What the vent being top dead center does in my opinion is encourage more bypass heat and SOME smoke to escape, meaning that the fire in the SNS basket needs to be a little bigger and maybe the vents need to be open a good bit more than when you smoke in the more efficient kamado mode on the same cooker. This is what the SNS folks call "Turbo Slow" in their information about the SNS Kamado, and I feel that the very same method would apply to use of the SNS low profile on a Weber Summit grill.
