BOLO: Squirrel with large bald spot. Wanted for theft of horse feed and destruction of feed bag. Shoot on sight. Arrest with extreme prejudice.

(Note: we thought it was only a rat problem in the barn, but this hair is too long to be rat, so I'm wondering if squirrels chewed through my tarp into the feed bags. I've now gone to large plastic bins around the extra feed bags. Also, several water hoses have been chewed on around the property. I really resent that, as I keep squirrel sticks in all of my horse water troughs so squirrels can get in and out for drinking without drowning.)

I'm hoping we get some time out of the bins. We keep one working bag of feed poured into a smaller bin to scoop out of when we feed. That's been undisturbed for over ten years.

No horses, but we do feed birds. I have resorted to a metal trash can to store bird seed.

The use of unnecessary violence in the apprehension of the squirrel has been approved.

Here in So. Cal we don't have much trouble with squirrels chewing through our gas lines (at least I have never experienced it or heard of it). They do sometimes get into the powerlines. However, for my covered car that I take out from time to time, rats/mice can get in, nest and potentially chew the wiring. So I periodically put around the engine frame mothballs. The Naphthalene seems to keep them away. I think having a cat helps too.

Back in the late 1990's reportedly a nylon fiber plant in Virginia shut down due squirrels chewing wires. That was a mess.

I was trying to trap a skunk and I got the most pissed off squirrel in the world. I let it go 3 miles away from the house and the little bastard ran back towards my house like he had gps.
I did catch the skunk later. 🤘
