    D*$n squirrels!

Several years ago I bought an adapter hose that converts from the 1 lb propane tank that my Weber Performer uses to a 20 lb tank. I did this for two reasons. First, I'm lazy, and second, I always had trouble getting the new 1 lb tank to connect to the cooker. And I was always worried I'd ding up the brass connection because the 1 lb bottle are steel. A 20 lb tank should last several years if there are no leaks. However, a squirrel had different ideas and ate through the hose.

I bought a hose encased i ss wire to replace the damaged hose, so I guess I will find out if squirrels can eat through the sswire the hose is wrapped in. .

After the little vandals ate $1,100 worth of the wiring harness on my pickup a few months ago I declared war. At the present the score stands Oak Smoke 23, squirrels 0. There are still a few around but they are very nervous. If they hear the back door open they are gone.

True! I hate to think of it that way, but I’m seriously behind.

They can be nasty. Had one eat through the ground wire to my house and the whole house resorted to use the ground wire for my cable. I started having problems with my cable and for some reason I disconnected the ground wire. Boy, did things turn to S#@t. Lights flickered, ruined microwave and hood over stove. PGE said I could have burnt house down.

A word of caution: Some municipalities consider gas (including air) powered rifles to be firearms and have ordinances against firing them within city limits.

I don't recall seeing any squirrel photos in SUWYC, so you could be the pioneer.

I used to eat squirrel when I lived with my parents, (as a kid), and enjoyed it.

It must have happened between uses, and the tank was empty when I tried to light a chimney of KBB.

Squirrels killed my first gas grill like that, chewed through the hose to the side burner. As the hose was not user replaceable and the grill had way outlived its expected life span, and we had a second one, I got rid of it. Now I feed them corn to try to convince them to stay away from the flowers on the deck...

Squirrels ate the fuel line on our gas tank on our Honda SUV and we had to get a new $1400 tank! Turns out that our car insurance paid for a lot of the cost. Honda dealer said to call our insurance company for coverage, local agent said no, but national 800 number said yes, and they were replacing tanks around the country due to cars sitting because of Covid quarantines.
