    Results are in. Thanks to the 83 respondents, I think it was a good sampling. Observations for this year;
    • Kettle and Charcoal cookers in general again top the list by a wide margin. Still the most versatile and affordable for the average back yard warrior.
    • Pellet Smokers continue in second place. Again convenience and versatility keep these popular.
    • It's interesting that Stick Burners continue to fall in popularity among backyard pitmasters. Size, lack of versatility and other factors such as sourcing wood and baby sitting the fire make them less attractive to all but the dedicated and comp cookers. Sad in a way, I personally think they produce the best barbecue.
    • The new kid on the block, the Gas Griddle had a good showing this year while almost non-existent when I started this survey..
    Thanks again to all who participated. Be looking for this in a couple of years. See if the mighty kettle can be de-throned!!

      Thanks for doing this. No surprise for charcoal. I guess the pellet makes sense as you said for convenience. Another thing that is catching on, full size griddle inserts for gassers. It could be rolled into the griddle category.

      I see that Weber has a full line and appears to be new products. 3rd parties are coming in with alternatives. You say, how to you know this? Because I'm getting ready purchase one for the Spirit S-330. I've been researching for a few days. I'm going to bite the bullet and go with Weber. They ain't cheap, this one is $199. I could go 3rd party, but most are C.I. The Weber is carbon steel which would not be as heavy. And it's Weber, so any issues it's Weber Customer Service.

      Sorry for the digression on the poll post.

        This poll would be more accurate if multiple selections were possible. I spread the love. Why else would I have so many options?

        Wok burner
        Gas griddle
        Kamado
        Gas grill
        Kettles
        Hibachi
        Kettle with Santa Maria attachment
