Where would I get wood for the Kettle with the Titan Santa Maria attachment.

I want to find a source for some wood (oak) for the kettle with the Santa Maria Attachment. I was thinking of just going to the local 7 eleven and buying some firewood they sell in a bundle. But was not sure if that would be acceptable for a fire to cook food on.

So I am looking for a source for some Oak. Would not think I would need alot as this would be the only place I would use it on. I do not mind ordering online.

Do you have a Buc-ee's up there? If so, that's the place to go. If not, try Fruita wood and BBQ.

This place is here on the west coast, so it may not be practical for you to order from them and have shipped out east . I'm sure there are plenty cooking wood suppliers nearby your location or maybe call the Wood Shed and talk to Patty, she may have some reference to another company near you.

Check with tree service people in your area.

I use Fruitawood. They have a pretty good selection if you can't find anyplace local.

See if you can just buy a face cord (or rick, depending on the terminology used) from a local firewood supplier. That should last you a long time and not cost a lot.

Garden centers may have oak fire wood available for purchase.

Maybe local tree services? All of ours around here collect from trees they cut down and then resale for firewood to add to their profit line.

Do you have an Academy near you? They sell cooking logs in large bags and they also sell this wood in the box. For occasional use it’s not that expensive.

We think we saw "food cooking logs" in the BBQ aisle at the local Home Depot the other day. Didn't stop to double-check what it actually was, but we made note of "huh, that makes sense to avoid cooking food over bad wood" as we walked past.

Checking the HD website, they certainly do have an assortment of "cooking wood" available, such as for wood-burning pizza ovens and open pits. Would at least provide some suggestions of the types of wood to look for at your local wood store.

of course, you could just fill the pit with a few 20lb bags of hickory smoking chips.

it might burn super fast, but it'll smell great!

rlozinak - Imma thinkin' the 'firewood' bundle at convenience/grocery stores, must, by law, be treated in some way with some synthetic (read: crappy for food use) biohazard so that no critters get in the store ... we've been very pleased with the fruitawood we got from https://fruitawoodchunks.com/ and I'm sure they have post oak (and others). Good luck on your search and thanks for awakening the MCS monster

I suggest not using lumber scraps for making furniture. It's drier than wood for smoking and may not provide enough smoke flavor.

I would avoid the gas station wood. it is usually punky, and not alwasy what they say it is.

Look at tress services or landscapers. They always have wood on hand. Golf Courses are also a great spot. I get a ton of wood from my brothers Golf Club. You gotta know what wood to look for and what oak looks like, but typically, they are more than happy to hand it over to you.

Yup, stay away from punky wood.

You're going to use a fair amount of wood. Ideally, you should try to find a local source.
