Anyone else using a miter saw for their wood chopping?

i use a band saw. I think it is much easier and safer than a miter saw. I use a 1/2 in blade and it handles all the hardwood i can throw at it. OK, i don't really throw at it.

I use my nice 12" DeWalt to get them down to a manageable size and then a sharp hatchet to split into usable cook size pieces.
Be careful of trying to cut small chunks or sticks. A miter saw will grab small pieces, along with fingers, and throw them out the back. This usually results in a broken saw or worse. I would also agree with the safety instructions and not use it your saw in the shower or on the top step of a ladder.
