    Kingsford Low and Slow Briquets

I saw these today while at Academy. Does anyone have experience with them? How do they compare to Kingsford Original? TIA

I think I'll hold off until they make a Craft Low and Slow Seaweed, Tamarind, and Kombucha flavor.

Sam’s has this, 32 lbs(2 bags) for $23.48. I wonder if this replaced the competition briqs, those were pretty good stuff.

Mass confusion for all the charcoal burners.

Sounds to me like they’re trying to go after the B & B fans……I have not seen these either.

That's what I was thinking. The general consensus around here seems to be the B&B outperforms Kingsford for long cooks. Maybe they are trying to remedy that.

I wonder about how much difference there is or if it’s just marketing. Reminds me of this…

Good question. I am guessing that high heat burns faster. I do know if you go to the Nakedwhiz.com website where they evaluate lump charcoal, some lump burns hotter and faster than others. Some burns low and slow and longer than others. And, some produces more ash. So if it is more than hype they may be using lump with the appropriate characteristics in their blends.

LA Pork Butt I'm thinking that they've changed the formula and use different amounts of mineral char, borax, limestone, sawdust, etc. in order to effect the burn rate.

I'm curious what the put in there to make "tender bbq?"

I tend to agree with texastweeter. But I don't know what I don't know. Assuming it does perform differently, will it perform differently enough to be worth its [surely higher] price?

I went through this with Kford Pro a few years ago. I didn't feel it was worth its price. Kford Original blue bag does everything good enough for me, but this is purely my personal viewpoint and doesn't mean I am right, I'm only right for me.

This stuff sounds like a perfect Billy May ad. “But wait, there’s more! Buy today and we’ll also send you some self-igniting charcoal that produces no ash and offsets your carbon emissions for one year!”

Disclaimer: Offer not valid in states with burn bans in place. The self igniting feature only works in gas grills.

Picked them both up just for fun but haven’t used them yet.
I wonder if they added more anthracite in one and more wood char in the other.
I’m glad they forgot about the spice rack.

I have used them they seem to burn faster and cost more, so I stick with the original.
