Jeez, what a bunch of critics :-) I want more Maillard reaction with the fish and with the crawfish and sausage pics. If anything, what I like about the asparagus pic is that I can see the Maillard reaction.

I'm for deleting the fish and the crawfish. The other three are simply exquisite works of art, especially that Lemongrette image. A still life from the Renaissance, that one.

That’s exactly what I thought about the Lemongrette

Me too. It looks like a painting by one of the Dutch Masters. The fact that the vinaigrette is so artfully staged with its ingredients makes it a winner.

I like the squash bisque. The fish one would be good for a Halloween food contest...kinda creepy. :-)

They are all great pics. The fish and the asparagus don’t resonate with me.
The squash and the crawfish tell a story that I want to participate in.

Oh wow…. To me the crawfish looks “too food-styled”. Bisque is the winner for this gal! Second place is the lemongrette.

lose the asparagus, whole fish and crawfish.

All are well done, but the fish looks like it needs cooking, and the asparagus does not hold my interest, and the light is just a little hot between pieces 3 and 4, (from the top).

The crayfish photo tells a story, and the other 2 are just great photos.

Crawfish one is great with the bottle and the head being great additional subjects, the soup is a great shot too... the others I've seen similar stuff to, and they just aren't exciting (or even confusing with the fish one). The last photo just looks way too edited and painting like, it's a cool shot, but it might lose votes in a photo contest as some may think it's a painting.

Does the NBBQ&G Association prefer pics specifically of grilling or some form of BBQing? If so, only one (#1) looks like it would fit the requirement.

That said (without trying to be overly critical):
                    1. The pic is ok. The fish was obviously grilled. But it just seems a bit barren.
                    2. The pic is excellent. Composition and lighting are great … but it’s nothing that’s been grilled or BBQ’d.
                    3. Beautiful photo. Of soup.
                    4. Much like #2, beautiful photo. Of asparagus.
                    5. Probably the best composition/lighting of the bunch. Unfortunately, it took several tries to figure out just what the subject of the photo is.
Bottom line: I guess I’d recommend submitting either #1 or #2 … or both.

I vote Lemongrette for the win! The colors set it off...

                            Can eliminate the others IMHO.

Submit Squash Bisque and Crawfish on Dirty Rice. As a third selection submit Peter Mayle’s Flaming Fish.
This is just based on eye appeal. However the first two in my list may not be in the judges’ view as closely related to BBQ or grilling as the fish is.

                              Just my 2¢. Good luck.
