Induction Cooktop?

    Thank you for that information, aladdin4d . You saved us doing the work. It looks like getting and induction option that would get close to the 30,000 BTU burners on my Camp Chef outdoor gas range, I'd have to have a 240V outdoor circuit available.

    Frying (and wok-ing) on those 30,000 BTU burners on my Camp Chef Somerset IV is such a pleasure. Great heat output for a CI 5 to 6 qt dutch oven with more to spare if needed.

    That said, I did fry with my dutch oven on my gasser as Meathead suggested in his article, and the frying there was pretty efficient as well. So if anyone has a gasser, I recommend you give frying there a try before purchasing something else to do the job.

      I believe I've inferred some inaccuracies of my question in looking for an induction cook top. I'm not planning on deep frying a turkey or using a large pot of oil for any major deep frying events. I'm mainly looking at using a small cast iron dutch oven or skillet to do some small batches of fish and chips, or pan fried chicken. I don't think an induction cook top would be efficient enough for cooking a turkey.

        I take your point. Pan frying is a different animal from deep frying. But even deep frying a small batch of chicken requires some good heat recovery time for the oil, at least in my experience. Thanks for clarifying, though. Sounds like the induction route might work out for you.
