I love PKs but again, waaaaay to much money for what you get. I don't like it when companies do this kinda stuff, and then charge an arm and a leg for the product. (Ahem, Summit Charcoal)
You could get a great kettle/SNS set up to cook just as much food, for way less money, and almost have enough to buy a normal PK on top of that!

I think there's at least an argument to be made for the Summit Charcoal that there is a lot of engineering: double wall construction, different grate heights, etc. This is a cast aluminum box with vent holes, on a nice stand. IMO a lot of thought went into aesthetics, which don't come across well until you look at the 360 views, where it looks pretty good I think. I always thought the original PK was a bit pricey, so there's that.
I think we should also consider this grill is CAST aluminum. It's made in small quantities and a lot of tooling is required to create all the cast pieces that make up this grill. It's sold in small quantities. If you look at their expected ship dates they only make 100 or so a month. Given the exclusivity of the product (small production runs), and that it will last generations if not abused, I think they're going to find buyers.
I dunno' @Jerrod Broussard . I used to work in a jewelry factory. The cast pieces actually took quite a bit of machining to clean them up. But in that case, we're talking small pieces that wind up with some some pretty fine detail. Probably different than this.
Smoker: PBC
Grill: A 20-year-old Webber 22.5" Kettle with a Slow and Sear
Thermometers: A Maverick ET732, A Thermapen, a few miscellaneous thermometers
Misc: I just seem to keep buying things.
I love the look of it. Someone said it looks like an Airstream without wheels and I love Airstreams too so maybe I'm predispositioned. One things that intrigues me about their grills, other than their pleasing looks, is they apparently last forever. I like that type of quality. But so does a Weber Kettle and the price for the PK always takes my breath away. With the Weber offering such a great product for such a lower price its really hard to justify a PK grill in my mind. I keep hoping to find one at a garage sale and the person doesn't realize what they have.
Histrix While I will never "forget airstreams" even though I will never be able to afford one, I can certainly add that to the wish list. Looks beautiful.

It's interesting but not compelling. I really do like my vintage PK and the idea of the ash system and an easier way to control the bottom vents would be nice, but not at that price. That said, I'm happy with the way the aluminum holds up near the ocean and for some that's a big deal. It's also way lighter than a kamado or similar. I hate moving my Primo around for just that reason. The PK is very portable.
I'd have to be way more flush with cash to go with this new PK. I'm still paying off the KBQ...
I kinda like the looks and it seems like they improved on the original with the new vents. It's also nice to have a big hole you can just sweep the ashes through. Heck, everything about it is nice from the stand to the side tables to the size.
But my old model works well. It has its' quirks but I've gotten used to it and I really like it. And I'd either have to find a place to put it or get rid of it and that ain't happening any time soon. I just replaced the grate with the new SS version, added the charcoal basket and the thermometer. So it's good to go for quite a while yet.
I think they might have overpriced it a bit but maybe they can sell all they can make for $900. It'll be interesting to check back on their site in a month or so to see how many of that first 500 are still available for pre-order.

Morning, Boss. I watched the newly added video, but I won't be able to get on board with you here until they shoot that 360 with high-powered weapons, and a Tannerite explosion.

LOL it will be fun to see the PK Grill go out in a BLAZE of glory!

Very nice. I would get one if I were in the market.
I find it interesting that everyone is taking a shot at the kamado market, btw. I mean, come on, every cooker does some things better than others, pick the one that does what you want it to.
