For the past several months PK grills have been on perpetual sale. Basically there is the high sticker price and then the sale price of about 35% off or so. As STEbbq mentioned above I think they are just playing around with pricing trying to make people think they are currently getting a good deal while the sale lasts (but it never ends).
I have one and, as x_30day_57992_LowcountryNative mentioned, they are virtually indestructible. Worth the price? Depends on your situation and desires but in many situations the answer is yes.
I own a late 1970s/early 1980's PK "clone" (predecessor?), that I inherited from my father. It's the grill I grew up with and looks fairly close to a PK in design, although the hinge is along the long side, not the short side.
It's also all cast aluminum and is in excellent shape, despite being over four decades old.
I'd love to cook on it more, but the vents are these little slidey things, two on the top and two on the bottom. The ones on the top are fine as you can see them when you adjust them, but the ones on the bottom are invisible when you're using the grill! Plus, you're reaching right under a very hot fire! Not to mention they are all very loose; if you bump the grill, you risk choking off the fire entirely.
So it sits in my garage as a de facto table of sorta and a piece of my childhood nostalgia.
Too cool. The new “Original” PK grill has the same sliding vents on the top and bottom. I think the PK300 and definitely the PK360 made adjustments to the underneath vents. Just turn a knob.
