    WSM 18 Cover

What is the best cover for WSM 18? I have been reading the stock cover doesn't hold up. I plan on storing it in my shed. I just like a little extra protection. Thanks!

I just use the stock cover and it has worked well. Had it for several years now.

Same here. There are a number of after market ones on Amazon fairly cheap. When the Weber one wears out buy a cheap replacement and so on.

I use the stock cover too. I’ve found that most grill/smoker covers only last about 5-7 years outside. You’ll get more than that in your shed.

I use a stock cover on my WSM. It stays outside year round and the cover has been just fine for 3 years now

That’s near Seattle .... sun isn’t bad, but tons of rain, cold weather, frost, ice, some snow.

Stock cover. I've had mine for just about 10 years and it's getting pretty worn around the top. It held up pretty well until I moved to Louisiana four years ago and the heat/humidity have really taken a toll. Especially under direct sunlight and rain.

There is a BIG difference between full sun and in a shed. When people say "it didn’t hold up", you need to ask (or think about) what conditions the cover was exposed to.

I have a Weber cover for a fountain. Yea, it fell apart but it was exposed to full sun. So I got another cover and kept it in the shade. It is holding up just fine. A bit faded but it still works as a cover.

Agreed. Mine was in a garage for the first six years of its life, and things went south quickly once I moved it outdoors under direct sun and rain here in Louisiana. About 2 years of exposure was all it took. It's now back under cover but the damage has been done!

Yep, mine is outdoors with the stock cover 24X7. But in Seattle area, that basically means in the shade ;-)

One of my WSM 18 was a find on craigslist, but without the cover.
I just use a large black trash bag for now. Just have to watch for water infiltrating.

Do you store yours with the middle stack upside down? That (with some type of a cover) usually keeps the rain out.

The inverted barrel works pretty good. Just keep an eye out for condensation.
