New 18" WSM!!

I won't get into the whole story, but my wife and I decided we wanted a WSM.

We were going to order a 14" model, figuring that would be plenty big enough for the 2 of us.

I go up to Home Depot, and there, parked by the check-out, is a 18" WSM.
And the good part?
It was marked down to only $200.

The only thing I saw wrong was a slightly warped door, very slight.
Oh, and it was missing (1) 1/4" flat washer.

I had it loaded up in my car in less than 5 minutes.
We be happy campers!!

Boom! and that door is easy to bend a bit to get it to fit how you want.

Great purchase. I think you will glad that you got the 18" vrs the 14" regardless of the price. The door can most likely be bent to fit.

Can cook a lot of barbecue with a WSM and a Kettle. I was very content with that combo for about 15 years and there's times I think I should return to it.

They're both very versatile.

Congrats Smoker_Boy Wow! Now that we have a picture, we know it really happened…😂 You’ll be glad you got the 18” one. I used to have the little 14” one and while it cooked great, I always wished I had gotten a bigger one. I could only fit 1/2 a brisket on it unless I cut it in half and used the lower cooking grate also.

You may want to replace the door anyway. It's the only flimsy part of that rig. Many of us have replaced it with the much better stainless steel door from Cajun Bandit.

Congratulations! My first smoker was a WSM. I made some great stuff on it. My oldest son has it now, with the stipulation that if he ever doesn’t want it any more it comes back to me.

I wouldn't worry about the door. I put the lava lock gasket around the edges. It made the door feel stronger and closed off any smoke escaping via that route.

I bought a hinge / gasket kit through Amazing Ribs @ Amazon.
Stainless steel hinge.

After only doing 2 seasoning burns, I could easily see why people buy the hinges.
