I like far too many to have a favorite.
That's like asking "who is your favorite child?"
I love them all, but differently

Another vote for Basil Hayden. Nostalgically, a vote for JD from my military days…

            Welcome!

My all time favorite bourbon is EH Taylor.

My all time favorite rye is Alberta Distillers' Alberta Premium Barrel Proof rye. Another in that class is Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Barrel Proof Rye. Outstanding but hard to find. (Don't let the name fool you)

I too love Stagg Jr if I can find it, which is impossible. I did a side by side with one of the Elijah Craig Barrel Proofs, and it beat out Stagg in a blind taste test! I stick to ECBP now.

I've had some other wonderful bourbons & ryes, too numerous to name them all and I think it would be easier to name the few that I don't like! There are some believe it nor not.

I think the best bourbon on the planet, all factors considered, is Buffalo Trace. Easy to find [used to be anyway], cheap at $27-35 depending where, and absolutely nothing wrong with it. It is the quintessential representation of "bourbon" in my opinion. I only wish they made it in 100 proof. EH Taylor would take that title in my book if it weren't a unicorn.

Many of my favorites are listed above. I think I’m not getting out of FOMO on bourbons, as one I picked up a few weeks ago, quickly has become a favorite. Wolcott Rickhouse Reserve. Great flavor and a nice proof to it - and it comes from Barton 1792 - a Sazerac Distillery.

And I have always enjoyed Angel’s Envy as well - just to name a few that haven’t been mentioned.

But - I do point you to our show us your bourbon, whiskey, rye, scotch thread to discuss all things bourbon and such. Let us know what you are drinking, share photos of bottles, provide reviews so we can see what else is out there that may be good!

Giving this a go, as there are a number of us in The Pit that sip on a bourbon/whiskey/rye/scotch. So, that this thread could be about just that - bourbon/whiskey/rye/scotch and allow for us to provide reviews on any of the four, ask about bottles we are interested in trying or finding, and just have some fun with the good

              thanks for sharing!

These days when I want a little bourbon I go simply with either Jack Daniels or Jim Beam. Years ago when I entertained customers regularly I liked Weller Special Reserve or Weller 107 if there would be no driving afterward. I’ve always enjoyed that little bite or taste of a straight bourbon. From what I read here I don’t know if either of the Wellers are available now.

I'm lucky that I have friends that know how to obtain these types of things.

What I'd like to know is what the best "bargain" bourbons people think are out there. I had something from Total Wine in CT several years ago that was great for the price, but I can't recall the price and haven't seen it again. (That clarifies things, right?? ) Where I live it is impossible to get one of the older Heaven Hill labels, that my father used to buy, which was pretty reasonable. (Maybe 10 or 12 years fermentation?) Any suggestions?
